this is the only way ||Bae smiled as he watched Wendy attempting to clean the dirt from his clothes, it wouldn't be an easy task. He'd been wearing them for the past 6 months since his papa had abandoned him. They were soiled with blood, sweat and a whole lot of dirt and tears. At Wendy's words, he chuckled softly “Well, I guess that'll show the clothes then won't it?” Bae said, admiring her washing his clothes. Seeing her gesture to the food on the table, Bae nodded his head gently and made his way towards them. Bae ate some more of the bread, as he took a seat at the table. Gripping the cup in his hands, Bae smiled, but, sighed sadly at the same time. He wished he could have honey in his tea, the way he used to have it with his papa. Bae was about to ask for it when he heard something pull up outside.
Looking around in a panic, he turned to Wendy unsure what to do. This wasn't like any other place where he could just climb out a window and escape, he didn't want to have to leave this place, for the first time in six months he felt happy. Taking the clothes in his arms, Bae looked at Wendy “Where is it?” Bae asked in a hurried question. Bae watched Wendy pick up the tray and followed her down the hallway. He was finally starting to feel better, but, now he was having to hide again. Bae stood next to Wendy as she pushed some door open and he saw a small room behind it. “Wow!” Bae said in a soft sigh of surprise. This room may have been small, but, it was better then anything he'd had in a long time. “Alright, I'll be in here I guess. Ok, I promise I won't come out unless I know it's just you.” Bae was used to hiding, it'll just take a bit more for the time being. Taking the tray from Wendy he climbed inside the crawlspace, and looked around. As he felt the kiss on his cheek, he smiled softly and placed his hand gently on his cheek “Bye Wendy” Bae said softly, placing his hand gently on the door as she left the room.
Sitting in this room, the young lost boy looked around. Bae sat down on a small bed, and begun eating the bread on the tray. While this wasn't the most ideal situation, at least he was off the streets, even for just one night. Bae had been shown kindness from the young girl Wendy, he just hoped that when he woke up tomorrow morning he wouldn't have been dreaming and wake up back on the cold, dark, streets. Alone. Bae decided to lie down on the small bed, and try and close his eyes for a while. At least until he heard Wendy coming back.[ WORDS ] 485 [ NOTES ] [ MUSIC ] Enchanted- Taylor Swift [ TAG ] @wendy you have to let me go |

It had been hours since she had checked up on Bae, and Wendy was feeling extremely antsy. What if he suffocated in there? Was he hungry? Wendy's leg bounced slightly up and down in anticipation as she sat at the dinner table, once again with her large storybook in her lap. Her father and brothers were sitting down around her while her mother served everyone food. Her parents shared a look of annoyance with each other, which she didn't notice. 'Wendy, it is impolite to read at the table.' her father said. It was like this nearly every night; Wendy reading fictitious fantasies and her parents trying to get rid of it. "But I just got to the part where the apprentice is about to cast a magic spell." she retorted, making her parents sigh again. 'Aren't you getting a little to old for those stories, dear?"' Her mother asked, a more bitten and shady undertone threaded in her words. 'We all have to grow up sometime.' Wendy simply gave her a look and continued to read, ignoring the rest of her parents nagging.
This went on until she was told to hand over her book and leave the table without dinner. Except, she had a small napkin filled with food. Wendy had learned this trick in one of her books that included a bandit. Walking down the hallway, she quickly went into the nursery and knocked a rhythmic pattern on the hidden door of Bae's room. "Bae!" she whispered. "It's me, Wendy. I brought food in case you're hungry."

this is the only way ||Bae continued to look around this nursery that Wendy had told him he'd been staying in, before lying down gently on the bed. Placing the tray down on the floor, he looked up at the ceiling with his arm under his head, before sighing softly and closing his eyes gently. He tried to fall asleep, but, the flashback came into his head again. The flashback when his papa let his hand go, let him go. His eyes darted open, and he felt himself turning onto his side and crying gently again. How could his papa let him go so easily? How could his papa go back on their deal?
Continuing to look around the room, he sat next to the bed and pulled his knees up to his chest, resting his head in his knees trying not to let himself cry too much. In case Wendy came back, and asked why he was crying.
Hearing that knock on the door and Wendy's sweet voice, he raised his head and wiped his eyes for the most part before making his way towards the door and opening it gently. Bae smiled softly at her “Thank you Wendy” Bae said, as he tried to make himself look happy rather then how he had just been feeling. “I was hungry” Bae reached out and went to take a hold of the food, but, let the stray tear fall from his eye at the same time. Wendy frowned as she watched Bae, who put up a strong front but felt himself tearing down inside. "Oh, Bae. Why are you crying?" she asked as she wiped the fallen tear from his cheek with her sleeve. "I haven't done anything wrong, have I? I'm so terribly sorry if I did. It must have been being stuck in here for such a long time. Silly, Wendy." she scolded herself, making herself comfortable on the ground, sitting on her knees.
Wendy looked over her shoulder and out of the nursery door, peering down the hallway to make sure no one was coming. Dinner usually took a very long time, so she wasn't worried too much. The blonde turned back to her new friend, shifting to hug her knees to her chest, resting her chin on her knees. She tilted her head to rest her cheek on her knee, her eyes fluttering slowly. The young girl was becoming sleepy, but she wanted to stay up with him to make sure he was alright. "Where do you come from, Bae? My family's been in London for generations." she asked casually, trying to bring him from his negative emotions.

this is the only way ||Bae tried to keep up a strong front in order to not worry Wendy, no matter how much it killed him and caused him pain inside. He was completely broken inside, but, he didn't want to show it. To worry Wendy. At Wendy's question, he blinked in surprise as she wiped his tear away. No-one had done that for him since his papa. Bae sat down properly and crossed his legs, as he heard Wendy blame herself for his tears. “No, you didn't do anything to me. Except show me something I really needed.” Bae said, smiling softly, hiding behind his true feelings. “Believe me, I've been locked up in smaller places then this for a lot longer. There was a lot less air in those too” Bae's images of the workhouses came into his head. The tiny, dungeon like rooms where they threw them in as punishment.
Taking a bite of the food Wendy had brought him, Bae smiled softly. His gaze followed Wendy's out of the door, but, his hearing had grown to be a lot stronger, so he would've heard someone coming long before they got here. As Bae stared at the door, he kept hoping to see his papa show up. Telling him that he meant to go with him after all, and take him home. He lowered his head sadly as he saw nothing, but, mid-air and empty space. Bae moved his legs out from under him into a more comfortable position, keeping his gaze on his new friend. Seeing her eyes flitter, Bae still felt that she was beautiful. The images had left his head for the most part now, and he focused on Wendy, and the life he had now. At her question, he raised his chin off of his knees and looked at her, smiling softly. “A place nothing like here. My family's been there for years. I think so anyway. I really don't know much about my family history.” [ WORDS ] 328 [ NOTES ] [ MUSIC ] Enchanted- Taylor Swift [ TAG ] @wendy you have to let me go |

"Tell me about it?" she asked, yearning to learn more about where her new friend came from. She had always been interested in places other than England. She was especially interested in a new found land across the water. It was Wendy's dream to explore new, uncharted lands on an adventure or voyage, but being who she was she doubted she would ever get that chance. Only in her dreams and imagination would she ever have her wish come true. "Surely it isn't so different? Are there big cities? Lots of people?" she asked eagerly.
Wendy, however, didn't want to bombard him with so many questions at once, no matter how much she wanted to know about him. She planned on asking him tomorrow after another day of hiding him. She felt terrible that he had to stay in such a cramped space while she had such a big home, but there was no other way. Besides, they both agreed that it was better than the streets and wherever he was before, and that made her content. "How come you aren't with your family, Bae? They must be looking for you."

this is the only way ||”What you mean that place?” Bae asked. He wasn't sure how to really explain what the Forest was like compared to this place London. Bae had wanted to be free from that world, but, he wanted to, of course do that with his papa. The two of them together, but, that hadn't worked out. His papa was still there in that world with his power, and, here he was in this world forced to be learning about and seeing all of it alone. “You have no idea. It's a lot different. There weren't so much cities as a lot of other villages. We were just in a small one of them. A whole lot of people yes, but, not all in the one place.”
Mentioning the Forest in vague answers was all he really wanted to do. Bae didn't want Wendy to think he was crazy and kick him out of the house she was offering him. He would tell her in time. And it wasn't just for this reason, it was because the mention of it brought pain to his heart. Bae would prefer to just remain a mysterious stranger for now, he would answer all of them in time, but, he'd rather avoid that topic for the time being. As Wendy asked about his parents, Bae found himself running his hand over the crystal of the necklace around his neck, he lowered his head down to look at it, before blinking the tears back. “It's a long story. I doubt they're looking for me though. Since they're both dead.” Bae said, knowing that while this was true for one of his parents, it was easier just saying that for both of them, rather then his papa abandoned him. “This is the only connection I have left to my family, as well as the home I left behind.” Bae said, showing her the crystal that was hanging around his neck.[ WORDS ] 321 [ NOTES ] [ MUSIC ] Enchanted- Taylor Swift [ TAG ] @wendy you have to let me go |

"Oh, well that sounds absolutely lovely. I get big cities like London are new to you." she said encouragingly. The idea of having small villages for people to live in rather than a large city such as London was foreign to Wendy, but it was one she enjoyed to entertain. She wondered how the system worked, if they had a system? Did they interact with the other villages or did they do their own thing? The blonde wanted to ask him many questions, but she didn't want to bombard him. Her smile went away when he told her of his parents' fate.
"Oh, Bae, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be so insensitive." She went closer into the small hidden room and sat next to Bae, resting her head on his shoulder as a replacement for a comforting hug. There wasn't much room for four arms to go around. "Well, now you have a home here, even if it isn't like your last one."

this is the only way ||”It was... once. There's a lot to this place that's new to me, not just the city" Bae said, smiling softly at her. This whole world was new to him, it was alot different then the Forest, which is what he wanted, but, not quite in this way. Bae could tell she would've found the Forest fascinating, and, it would've been nice for him to have another friend there, besides Morraine. His papa would've loved her too, such a kind hearted soul. The two of them maybe could've probably brought out his papa's good side permanently. But, none of that mattered now. What was done was done. And his papa had kept the darkside and ditched him, the last chance at goodness. Speaking of what happened to his parents made him sigh sadly, as he looked at Wendy's reaction.
At her apology he shook his head "No, you don't have to be sorry. You didn't know." Bae sighed softly, as he saw Wendy make her way into the nursery beside him. Feeling her head going onto his shoulder, Bae glanced down at her. Having her head there made him feel surprisingly better, and, it definitely made his day. Bae smiled softly before choking back the sadness at the way he felt hearing her tell him he had a home. "Thank you Wendy. You have no idea how much that means to me." Bae said, as he looked at her lying on his shoulder. "This is the way my home used to be. Back when I liked it there." Bae ran the crystal through his fingers, as he just sat there with Wendy.[ WORDS ] 272 [ NOTES ] [ MUSIC ] Enchanted- Taylor Swift [ TAG ] @wendy you have to let me go |

"Well, it will always be like this here. Always." she said, determined to keep her friend happy in order to erase memories of his hardship. "No one will ever treat you wrong again, you'll be happy and comfortable here, I promise you." Wendy said with a full smile, thinking of their future with each other and all of the fun times they will have. Although, there was still the question of how Mr. and Mrs. Darling would react, because Bae couldn't stay in that small room forever. She'll cross that bridge when she gets there. For as long as she could, Wendy didn't want her parents finding out she'd been hiding a boy in their home. She was waiting for a time where they weren't upset at her for backtalk and disobedience. Sneaky and cunning as she was, she as planning on being on her best behavior the next few weeks to soften them up, strengthen the pity, and weaken the punishment.
Wendy yawned from her place on Bae's shoulder, reaching up to rub her blue eyes. "I suppose I should let you go to sleep now. It's been a long day." she giggled, running through that days events in her mind. Never before had she had such an eventful, fun day. She hoped there would be more to come with Bae. Crawling out of the hidden room, Wendy stood and pat her long skirts. "I promise I'll be back in the morning. Luckily, the nursery has it's own loo, so just use it whenever you'd like. I'm going to tell my brothers you're here so it's easier for you to roam. You can trust James and Michael, I swear it." Mentally, Wendy thanked whoever designed this buildings structure. There was a large nursery with a hidden room and it's own bathroom. What more could children ask for? It would seem that Fate wanted the Darlings and Baelfire to live here.
"Goodnight, Bae. Sweet dreams." Wendy whispered, kneeling before the entrance of his door and leaning in, giving his cheek a soft kiss goodnight.
