I won't let magic destroy this familyThis is the only way, you have to let me go* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Seeing Wendy look down at the ground, in the same way he had been. Bae hoped that this wasn't a bit too forward and she wasn't going to run away. A smile grew on Bae's face as he nodded “You're very welcome” Bae said. Bae was glad she didn't seem set aback by that comment, he was only speaking the truth, she was beautiful and deserved to know it. “Thank you Wendy. Believe me, you have no idea how unique it really is.” Bae knew that he wasn't like the others in this world. They all had normal names, but, then again. They were all normal. He wasn't. Although, right now he wasn't sure what he was.
Bae smiled at Wendy, before noticing her looking at him. He, himself adjusted his shirt and cap, before running his hands over the rips on the sleeves of the shirt. Great, here he was with this beautiful girl and he was in old rags that he'd been in for the past 6 months. He followed Wendy as she made her way over to an old chair, and sat down opposite her. Smiling at her softly, he watched her put down the tray. Listening to Wendy's speaking without pausing, he just found himself staring at her. She was beautiful and kind, and seemed to be offering him a chance at a hot bath and, even more then that. A change of clothes. And, maybe even shelter of some kind. “I'd love that. A hot bath is something I need. Do you reckon the clothes will fit me? I mean, I don't know your brothers, but, they may be different sizes then me. Clean clothes do sound nice though. It's been, let's just say it's been a long time, since I've had that option. Tea sounds good” Bae said, smiling at her. He wasn't quite sure what would happen, if and when her parents found him or her brothers found out he was here. He was just worried, but, he would focus on that later.

Wendy grinned at his acceptance at her offers to be useful, her eyes brightening. She clasped her hands together in excitement. "I'm sure they'll fit you just fine, Bae. My brother John is just a tad smaller than you, I think, but all of his clothes are bigger since we've noticed he's growing faster than we expected." she explained, going off into another room that looked like the kitchen. "It appears that he inherited the tall trait from my father. We go to bed, wake up the next morning, and all of a sudden he's a foot taller." she giggled, going to one of the cupboards and reaching up to open it.
Wendy inwardly groaned, knowing what came next. She was tall enough to reach the handle of the cupboard, but she was too short to actually reach anything inside. It didn't help that the wooden box of Earl Grey tea was right at the edge, taunting her. Scoffing, she got up on her tiptoes and stretched her arm, hoping that Bae didn't walk in to see her struggling. This is so embarrassing!, she thought to herself. She never had to worry about the cupboards because her mother usually had everything down on the counter for her to reach whenever they were in the kitchen for 'cooking lessons', as her mother called them. Inhaling and exhaling heavily, she reached again, doing a small hop. "So," she said, trying not to sound as if she was struggling."Tell me more about yourself, Bae."

Hearing her clap her hands together, brought Bae out of his thoughts and made him jump slightly. As she acknowledged that her brothers clothes would fit, he nodded “And are you sure he won't notice they're missing? I don't want to get in trouble” Bae said, before staying sitting on the couch and watching her head into another room.
As Bae glanced out the window, he watched the people out there, quite a few of them walking with their parents and he couldn't help, but, blink back a tear at that image. He remembered that this should've been what he got. Him and his father in this new world together. These memories and realisations in his head made his sense of loss grow and he just blinked as he wanted them out of his head. Memories of the two of them happy and then his father letting him go. Hearing Wendy's voice call out to him, he shook his head coming back into reality. “Huh?” Bae said, as he tried to comprehend what Wendy had said. A smile grew on his face, as he thought of an answer to this “What do you want to know?” Bae asked, as he made his way into the kitchen and sat down at the table. “You can ask me anything” Bae said, before pausing and tilting his head “Within reason”

"Oh, no. They won't notice. Boys hardly notice anything even if it's right under their nose." she joked with a teasing smile flashed back at him. "As for getting in trouble... I'll cross that bridge when I get there." She made a face as if to say 'yikes, oh boy'. She was already in deep trouble with her parents for the reading-at-the-table stunt she pulled last night, and if they found out she was hiding a boy in her room, that would just create the first ever Darling scandal, even if her intentions were innocent. No doubt she'd be sent to the Queen herself for some lessons in etiquette and mannerisms of a lady.
Giving up on trying to reach for the tea on foot, she went to the table and grabbed a chair, pulling it in front of the cabinet, and stepped on it. She smiled triumphantly, taking the wooden box of Earl Grey into her hands. The rest of her family shouldn't be back until for at least another two hours, so they were in the clear for now. Wendy had already thought up of a plan to keep the boy safe from the streets. There was a small crawl space hidden in the wall of her and her brothers bedroom. It was there in case of emergency, and keeping a friend off the streets seemed like a good enough emergency, right? Wendy tended to think ahead, a personality trait she was actually thankful for, and her head bustled with thoughts. With a giggle, she opened the box and unwrapped the top of the folded paper that was concealing the tea leaves, immediately wafting the smell throughout the kitchen. To the young British woman, it was homey and most definitely her favorite. She closed it again, silently hoping that Bae would enjoy it. What if he didn't like it? But what if he did? Should she get another tea? ... Did Britain even have another tea?
"Within reason?" she repeated, teasingly, quickly turning around on her heel on the wooden chair. The main reason she used the chair as a stool was because her mother didn't like Wendy or her brothers standing on them. In short, whatever her mother didn't like her doing, she did. "Well, Bae, I would most definitely like to know your favorite color, unless that doesn't qualify as 'within reaso-' ah!" Wendy yelped as she stepped on her skirt, making her lose her balance on the chair. The box of Earl Grey toppled onto the floor and the blonde awaited her crash.

Bae couldn't help, but, smile at her comment about boys not being able to notice anything, not even something right under their nose. “Maybe we don't” Bae said, looking at Wendy. The truth is, he hadn't seen that his papa was going to choose the dagger over him when they were over that portal. At Wendy's reaction to the next part of his question, he lowered his head, wondering if it would be his fault she'd be in trouble. “I don't want you having to risk getting in trouble for me” Bae said, looking at her and smiling. Bae already knew that, back in the Forest, so many got hurt or killed because of him. He didn't want that to happen again.
Staying on the couch letting his thoughts wander, he flashed back to all of his memories he had with his father. The good ones before finding that dagger, the not so good ones after that, and finally the last one he had, the two of them over that portal, as he let his hand go. Let him go. Bae kept himself from calling out, and tried to stop himself from crying too badly over it. Instead, he looked around Wendy's house, wondering where exactly he would be able to stay, since the house didn't look like it had many hidden rooms here. Bae wondered what type of tea they had in this world, back in the Forest, they didn't exactly have fancy ones. They just boiled water over a fire and then added some leaves in it. May be nice for a change of tea this time.
“Yeah, within reason. There's just, some things that are a need to know type of thing” Bae said, smiling at her as he leant back in the chair and watched her. There was something about the way she moved about the kitchen, she was so graceful in her moves. “Oh it does...” Bae started to say, but, paused when he noticed Wendy start to fall. Bae quickly leapt from his chair and held out his arms to catch Wendy and he smiled as she landed in his arms gently.

Wendy yelped as she fully fell fro the chair, awaiting the pain of her fragile body hitting the hard floor, but the sensation never came. The blonde felt two strong arms under her back and the joint of her legs; Bae had thankfully caught her. She huffed out the last of her sudden adrenaline and stared at her savior with wide brown eyes. "Thank you," she said wondrously, looking into his eyes. She felt a smile spreading across her face. "You're just full of surprises today, aren't you? First you're my thief, now you're my savior." she finished with a giggle. Of course she never meant the thief comment, it was just an inside joke.
A few moments passed when they just remained still, Wendy motionless in his arms and Bae taking his time keeping her there. She noted how comfortable she felt there, how protected. She remembered from her books how princesses were described to have felt when they were held like this, and she supposed that this moment was the closest she would get to that feeling for now. Until she grew up, she thought with an inward grimace. Breaking the silence with another giggle, she spoke up quietly. "You can put me down now, Bae. I don't think I'm falling anymore." Wendy teased. When she was set down, she knelt down and picked up the box Earl Grey, setting it on the table. From an easier cabinet to reach, Wendy got the special teacups that her mother used especially for important guests. "Have you ever had Earl Grey before?" she asked while she put the necessary ingredients for the tea, mixing it with a tiny teaspoon to blend it all together. Wendy turned to him, holding the cup of tea with a grin. She was eager to see what he thought of it.

Bae held out his arms and was glad that he had caught Wendy, instead of letting her fall. He admired her, continuing to look at her and just enjoying the beauty of her up close. Looking at her, he smiled softly and nodded “Anytime” Bae said, looking at her. At her words, he chuckled before looking down and then smiling as he looked back up at her “I guess I am. Besides, you saved me first. By not calling the police on me for the first thing.” Bae said, chuckling again. It was an inside joke between them, and that's what he liked.
Keeping Wendy in his arms, he felt something he'd lost a while ago. He felt comfort and safe. Bae knew that this was how he used to feel when he was in his father's arms, and it was a weird feeling, and one that he'd lost for the past 6 months, since he came to this world. Bae had no real intention to put her down anytime soon. Coming out of his thoughts as Wendy giggled, he shook his head in realisation. “Oh right. Um, of course.” Bae said, clearing his throat nervously before gently placing Wendy back on the floor and smiling nervously. As he came back into reality, he suddenly felt the pain of the grazes as a result of his life in the workhouses. When he saw Wendy look away, he lifted up his shirt slightly and winced before running his hand over what was there. 'Out of the way kid. Hurry.' Bae flinched as he saw the memory come back to him. Coming out of his thoughts, he looked at Wendy as she turned back to face him. Bae quickly lowered his shirt and cleared his throat “Earl, what?” Bae asked, not sure what that meant. “That sounds like a person not a tea.” Bae joked, before letting out a soft chuckle. Bae sat back down, as he watched Wendy mix the ingredients for the tea. It seemed a lot more complicated then tea back in the Forest. That was simply a few leaves and boiling water. Bae smiled as Wendy held out the cup for him, and he took it, before blowing gently on it to cool it a bit. He could tell Wendy was waiting for him to try it and he took a small sip of it, raising his eyebrows as he enjoyed the taste of it. “Hmm...” Bae said, before pausing and looking up at her “Pretty good.” Bae then placed the cup down on the table and looked at her again.

"Well, it was named after our former Prime Minister, Earl Charles Grey." Wendy said, laughing. Clasping her hands together as she always did when she was pleased, the girl was happy to know that he enjoyed the tea. She left the kettle on the stove for him to use at his disposal, getting the tray of bread from the kitchen and bringing it to the table in front of him. "So, may I ask what your favorite color is, or must I have to fall over to get an answer?" she teased, going to the pantry and getting out some cheese. Might as well make his first proper meal in a while a good one!
She placed the cheese on a cutting board and took a knife, cutting a slice of the cheese and slicing it even more into smaller pieces. Then she cut the bread into easily held pieces than the whole loaf, putting them flat on a plate with the cheese on top. Wendy worked diligently, wanting Bae to be completely pampered and comfortable. "There we go!" she said, feeling accomplished at her work. "Then, after you eat, the bath will be ready! I don't suppose you like bubbles, do you?" she asked, giggling at the thought of Bae surrounded by a huge tub of bubbles. She often had to search through the bubbles to find her brother Michael.

“I thought so. See I told you sounds like a person” Bae said, smiling softly at her. Bae knew that he hadn't smiled this much in so long and he wasn't exactly complaining. Bae looked at the kettle on the stove and watched Wendy come back with the bread, placing it on the table. Hearing her question, he chuckled softly. “Of course you get an answer.” Bae said, before tilting his head. The truth was, he didn't know which one was his favourite. “I'd have to say red probably.” Bae said, as he ran his hands over each other, watching Wendy head back to the kitchen itself and getting something out of it. "What about yours?"
As Wendy came back with the food, he raised his eyebrows before smiling. “Thank you” Bae said, before he picked up the strange sliced thing sitting on the bread, he wasn't sure what this was, but, if it was like the strange new type of tea, he was sure he'd like it. “I do appreciate that. What are bubbles?” Bae said. He was sure he'd never heard of those things, and that they didn't have those things back in the Enchanted Forest.

"Oh, red's such a lovely color! It reminds me of passion and romance and roses and love," she gushed, scrunching her nose again in excitement just thinking about it. "Although I'm rather fond of blue. It's a more calm, welcoming color, but is still sweet." she finished, sitting down opposite of Bae. She fixed herself a cup of tea like she did often and sipped at it, peering over the rim at Bae. Suddenly, she choked mildly on her tea at his last question, putting the cup back on the table with haste. "You don't know what bubbles are? Why, Bae, they're the most simple things in the world. Don't tell me you've never seen a bubble?" she said in disbelief. Who on Earth didn't know about bubbles? They were practically everywhere whether you want them or not.
With a sigh, Wendy stood up and took Bae's hand. "Well, I'm not about to let you live another second until you've learned what a bubble is!" she said, determined, taking him in the direction of the Darling residence's large bathroom. Opening the large door, she revealed a mainly ivory room with a claw-foot bath in the center and various other bathroom items. There was water already in the tub ,and she supposed it wasn't too cold. Going to the tub, she took a lavender colored glass bottle from the side table of the tub, handing it to Bae. "Here. This is called soap. You put it in the water to make yourself smell better. If you mix it in with the water, you'll make lots of bubbles." Wendy grinned.
