He had heard that promise before so henry wasn't convinced . The boy was starting to believe that all grown ups lie. As if it were part of class one takes before growing older. Parenting 101 today's lesson lying and how to get away with it.
Henry's brown eyes searched his father face. This would be something to remember that his dad wasn't fond of name. So no yelling out Baelfire in a crowd. how do you pick Neal then? Was it a friend you use to know?
Rolling his eyes Neal was cool then he had to mention Emma. Leaning to the side jamming his hands peacoat's pockets. I don't care if she minds or not . She didn't ask me if I minded to know the truth. pouting with a huff.

Neal knew that words meant nothing until being proven, especially based on his own experience with both his father and Captain Hook. They may not have been in this land, but, they probably had the same book as grown-ups did in this world. Since, his foster families were the same way. Liars and people who pretended like they cared.
Smiling at Henry as he seemed to look at him, he examined him as well. Neal wanted to see if he recognised something in himself in his son. Neal could recognise the eyes, but, they didn't look as empty and lost as his own. Turning towards Henry, he shook his head “Actually I saw the name on a headline of a newspaper. I saw Neal on one page and then Cassidy on another. I just meshed them together."
Turning back towards the window of his apartment, he looked at both Emma and his father. Neal looked at Henry and could sense the anger towards a parent and he slowly went out to place a comforting touch on his son's shoulder, “Listen Henry, I know you're mad, but, at least she wants to be there for you and in her own way was trying to care for you.” Neal said, not wanting to upset him anymore.“Tell you what Henry, after we finish up here. We can go down to New York, instead of back in there for a while. That way neither of us have to deal with our parents until it's absolutely necessary.”

That how Neal had picked name . Henry couldn't but wonder if he could do the same. Just pick a name from looking at newspaper. Just a swirl of finger and land on new name and blend in with the crowd. Pursing his lips together not noticing that his father placed a hand on his shoulder.
Glancing up from the window toward Neal. His father was right that Emma was trying to "protect " him but it still hurt. Henry had trusted Emma believed in her now she was lying? I'll try to be easy about it I'm just I don't know I'm hurt. My other mom she lied all the time. I just thought Emma was different that all.
Eyes dart back from window to Neal and back again. The twinkle of mischief blazed within them. YES PLEASE....I mean yes please. he didn't mean to be to excited with his answer. lets go now pleaseee.

Picking the name from the newspaper was really the only thing he could think of when someone asked him his name after leaving Neverland. He didn't want to be Baelfire anymore, so he had to figure out something else and that was the first thing he could think of.
Neal kept the hand on Henry's shoulder as he stayed there, he smiled as Henry looked up at him. He knew about people lying to him, especially parents or people you saw as parents. Neal had known it from both his own father, and Captain Hook. The last father figure he'd ever known. “I know how you feel Henry. My father lied to me all the time before everything that happened. And so did the only other parental figure I'd ever known in my life.”
The suggestion that he made to Henry would work in both their favours. They could get to know each other and he wouldn't have to deal with his father until it became absolutely unavoidable. Neal let out a soft chuckle at his almost immediate enthusatic reaction. “Yeah, we can go. Just give me a minute to go and grab some money from in there for the subway.” Neal said, pointing towards the apartment itself. @henry

How sad was it that lying had caused him and Neal to bond. Henry under different circumstances would have been more upset about this realization, yet the boy was to focused on the leaving the getting away not from Emma but from Gold as well. Perhaps then his dad and him could talk and bond about happier things.
should I meet you down stairs then? Around the door entrance you could tell them your going to get your mail.sneaking out was easy part trying not to get caught would be the challenge . Looking down the fire escape the stairs looked sturdy enough he could just walk down those .
I'll give you five head start then I'll go down. rocking on his feet a impish mischievous smile spread over his lips.

It's probably a bad thing that lying or betrayal is what caused him to bond him with his own son. Of course, it was this same type of thing, the broken deal with his father, had caused him to bond with Hook as well. Maybe, it was just because it was all he'd known at that point in his life. Right now, all he had to do was focus on finding a way to run away from his father one last time. And spend some time with his son. The two of them could get to know each other properly.
“Yeah, take this way. But, be careful of the stairs there. They aren't always the sturdiest.” Neal said, pointing to the stairs at the fire-escape. “I'll figure something out. It's not like I need an excuse to enter and leave my own apartment.” Neal would not even bother explaining to his father, he'd just tell Emma. This was his apartment. his city. His home. He didn't mind Emma staying there, and he knew he got his stubborn-ness from his father, so he didn't have a choice with that part.
“Sounds good Henry. Just wait here, so that when, or rather if I explain it to Emma. She will still see you out here and we won't have to deal with her following me to find out where you went.” Neal said, smirking softly, before ruffling his hair and making his way back towards the window and inside the apartment. @henry

Nodding his head henry stood still waiting for his dad to tell Emma then. The breeze blew over the preteen as he stood there . The sun setting in the back ground. Henry still loved Emma he just wanted space right now. As Neal went back in he just loomed about the allie. Everything in New York was so different compared to home.
A thought hit Henry would Neal now come back with them or stay here? It made the boy sad what if he already lost his father before he even had a chance . Then there was Regina who wouldn't let him come here during the summer to visit. All his hopes were starting to go up in flames. this was making the boys mind race and heart pound. He would never truly have the family he so longed to have would he ?

As he began to climb back in the window, he turned to and smiled at Henry before exhaling deeply and making his way inside his apartment. Neal knocked his father's hand off of his shoulder, before making his way to the front part of his apartment. As Emma walked over to him, asking if everything was ok, he nodded “Yeah, he'll be fine. Just give him a bit of space for now.” Neal said, before placing his scarf over his neck and turning back to Emma “I'm just going to head downstairs for a bit. I've got some errands to run. You are welcome to stay here until I get back.” Neal said, as he began to make his way out of his apartment, before turning back to Emma quickly. "If you need it before I get back, the bathroom is the second door down the hall, and, well, the kitchen is in the room Henry came out of." Neal then grabbed some money for the subway and then made his way out of the door.
Neal placed the hood over his head, before making his way downstairs to the pavement in front of his apartment. Glancing up, he looked around to make sure he hadn't been followed by either his father or Emma, before making his way towards the side alley by his fire-escape to meet Henry. Neal was worried, he wouldn't be invited to come back with them to this town, Storybrooke. And he wouldn't get to have the time to truly get to know his son, since he doubted Emma would let him come all the way here by himself. Was he going to lose another chance at real family? Soon he reached the side alley and glanced up at Henry on the balcony. “Come on, you can't see the sights of New York from up there” Neal said, chuckling softly. @henry

Keeping up with his dad steps Henry was so excited . The boy practically bounced down the street. Starting to ramble on about how this was awesome much better when he snuck out all those times at Regina home and how he couldn't wait to see the sights with Neal.
so what did you tell them? curious to hear the tale that his dad had woven. I bet Emma ans Gold had believe it where to now? What are you going to show me dad ?
Reaching out grabbing the man's hand holding it . With Emma this would have her flipped the blonde out but he hoped it would not have the same reaction with Neal.

Neal walked with Henry and watched as he tried to keep up with his steps, chuckling softly as he started rambling and better then sneaking out of his mothers. “Yeah, I used to sneak out of my foster homes all the time too. I can't wait to show you the sights here either.” Neal said, looking down at his son.
“My father, nothing. But, I told Emma I had some errands to run.” Neal said, smiling at Henry. “Well, first stop the subway. We can get everywhere in New York using that thing. I'm going to start by showing you the Empire State Building and then if you want we can go to the zoo.” Neal hoped that Henry liked that idea, if not, they could figure something out together.
Feeling the squeeze as Henry grabbed his hand, he raised his eyebrows in surprise, not expecting it since no-one had really held his hand in so long, but, he just smiled and squeezed it back, gripping it tightly. @henry
