Neal stayed a fair distance back as he just watched Lily make her way towards some old barrel. Keeping his hands in his jacket pockets, he glanced around and then raised his eyebrows as she set the barrel on fire. “I guess we have that in common, the foster system has me bouncing around so much that I'm not really able to settle anywhere” Neal said, walking up next to her. “Well, I don't get a lot of attention, due to being a foster kid. They don't care enough to pay attention. I'll take your word on that.” Neal stayed standing as Lily went to sit on the stone steps, he picked up a rock and just threw it through the air, before turning back towards her with a small smile. “That word welcome. I don't hear that a lot anymore. That guard was nothing, I've dealt with so many before. I guess we can help each other, I can help you with the guards, and, you can help me by making sure I don't have to go back to the foster system.”

Watching Neal toss the rock in the air. Yeah she knew all to well the not being welcomed part. She had lived with that for most of her life with adoptive parents.
All the those feelings of not belonging and loneliness that raged within her where gone for the most part. Until Emma had pushed her away again but Neal didn't m!make her feel that way she felt a bond with him not sure what it was truly ...kinship almost.
Standing up quickly making her way to Neal holding her hand out to him. sounds like deal is made then, partners. she was actually excited over this it meant no longer being alone and to have someone who understands.
This would be fantastic to bad Emma couldn't have been here , shaking her head . not now she wouldn't allow ghosts of the past to interrupt her happiness. Emma made her bed now she would have to deal with it. She chose a life of loneliness over being with her now Lily would have the family and belonging she always craved.

Neal was so sick of not being welcomed anymore, he'd gotten it with every foster parent since he was placed into the stupid system. None of them welcomed him with open arms into their family.
The feelings of not belonging and not being wanted had lowered down or been calmed down. Until he lost his chance at family with the Darlings. Being here with Lily, he had the feeling he had with them, and, he felt the same kind of connection to her, as he did with them. Kind of like a feeling that they were meant to be in each other's lives.
Neal watched as Lily stood up and came over to him. He wasn't sure what was happening, but, as she held out her hand Neal flashed back to the Enchanted Forest. Him and his father sealing their deal with a handshake, before he broke their deal and let him go at the same time. But, he could sense that this time it was different, and, so he shook her hand. “Partners.” Neal said, smiling softly. This was someone who would stop him feeling alone, and, would actually understand.
He couldn't believe how good this felt. He only wished that his father could've been here, he would've loved Lily. No, he was not going to let that part of his past haunt him. His papa had made his choice. He had chosen the power of that dagger over a life with him, so now he would find a family and the sense of belonging he had long since lost.

Smiling a genuine smile one that hadn't been in effect not since Emma left, not since her parents or at least her adoptive parents abandon her. Taking deep breath finally fully capable of relaxing allowing her guard down. Lily moved past Neal over to the cooler filled drinks and snacks.
Flipping the lid off pulling out a two waters I don't have much but its yours in the morning we should talk about what our plan is going to be where we should go and so on. You want a water?
She asked turning about noticing his face had changed from joy to anguish. hey Neal no secrets , whats up? had all this been to soon was Lily celebrating to early would Neal leave her just like every one else.

NEAL CASSIDY  tags @lily;; etc ;; He was smiling his first genuine smile in years. One that hadn't been on his face since the Darlings. And with Hook before he handed him over to the Lost Boys. Neal watched as Lily walked past him towards the cooler that wasn't too far away.
"I'd appreciate that. I don't have much either. Yes, we should, I just need to stay hidden until we get out of here. I'm not normally good at planning where I want to go. I just get put some where. Yeah, thanks."
Neal took the water in his hand, before taking a small sip. "You're right, no secrets." Neal said, lowering the bottle down and then looking up at Lily. "Just the whole moment with the handshake, made me flashback to the last time I made a deal with someone. It was my father. We sealed that one with a handshake too, but, he broke his end of the deal, and, I ended up alone in this world." Neal let out a soft sigh as he sat down on the step resting his elbows on his knees. "I just need to know it's not going to happen this time." Neal looked up at Lily, waiting to see her response to what he'd just said.

Neal got left behind by his own dad dude that had to hurt like major. Frowning closing the space between them sitting down next to Neal. The chill of the stone step sank in through her clothing. listen I don't make promises I can't keep . I will stay around with you as long as you don't push me away. I know what it feels like to be abandon and to be alone . I wouldn't do that someone not my style . Lily wanted to comfort him but felt like it might scare Neal off. Usually when she showed affection people always ran from her . but there was something her new friend said that just didn't sink in right world? What did he mean by that ? It was strange opening and then closing her mouth. Arms wrapped around her legs and hands locked together at the knees. being on your own can feel like a whole another world. Neal it does get better any your dad was an idiot . most adults are so your good not leaving you . we cool now? Neal Cassidy |

 Neal looked at the ground as he rested his elbows on his knees, speaking of the fact that his papa had abandoned him and left him behind wasn't something he wanted to remember. "You know I needed to hear that. I need to know that I'm not going to be left again. I won't push you away, at least not on purpose. It's not my style either."
He wasn't normally one to experience comfort or closeness. In fact, he wouldn't have any idea how to deal with it if someone did give him comfort. Neal probably used the wrong word with his talk of what actually happened to how he got to this world. This world may have been the wrong one to use, but, he was just hoping that Lily wouldn't ask.
Neal smiled at Lily, before shaking his head. "My whole life for years had been alone, and, a whole new world was what I was faced with. I do know that well. Adults are always going to let you down. Yeah, we're cool." Neal then found himself doing something he didn't expect. Neal reached over and hugged her.### ■ @lily ■ notes |

L ily wasn't surprised that he had been alone for most of his life. Neal had this closed off vibe about himself. It made the teen feel for guy. Most of her life she had someone there but never felt a connection with any of them. Yet some how some way Lily did something to make them leave. Just as she was about to feel sorry for herself and move away from Neal . her new friend did something completely unexpected. He hugged her, it was odd but Lily felt comforted by this rather then freaked out by her personal space being invaded. Bring her arms up wrapping them tightly around Neal squeezing him tight. Feeling safe Lily let her guard down more . he would probably be trouble but Neal would be worth it. Dropping her arms away smiling fondly Your welcome and I meant it . your stuck with me and I you . there is a train heading out west to Arizona. We should go warm weather ,cool nights it would be location for some jobs . [/quote] |

 Neal had become more closed off over time, due to everytime he opened up to someone his heart had broken or he'd been let down. The only real person who'd ever been there for him in this world were the Darlings, and, yes he'd felt a connection with them, but, he had left them so that they could be the family he had lost. And everyone else made him feel like he did something wrong because they'd left him at some point.
Hugging Lily was something he hadn't expected, but, it was something he did in the spur of the moment. No-one had ever been this kind to him in so long, and, he wanted to show he appreciated it. Neal was expecting Lily to pull away, just like everyone else did everytime he went to hug someone. But, he felt surprised as she just hugged him back.
He felt like Lily was the first person who he could finally let his guard down around again. It may be trouble, but, in his mind Lily would be worth it. Neal leant back and smiled at Lily as she pulled away and looked at him. “And you're stuck with me too. Yeah, anywhere, but, here would be great. Arizona, I'd like that, but, there's one thing I should tell you before we head to Arizona.”### ■ @lily ■ notes |

P ausing for moment what this news was it couldn't be good. There several times through Lily's life that when some uttered that phrase stuff usually went down. Gripping his hand the teen blinked wondering what this matter could be at least they would face it together. Nodding her placing her hand over his alright what's the issue with Arizona? If its to hot we could always choose another location. smiling letting go of his hand . Lily raced to get to her back pack pulling out a map book . flipping it to the back so the vast map of USA was appearing now. Briskly moving back Neal . bending down so her knees knelt on to the cold cement of the abandoned church. just close your eyes and pick a spot where ever you land we will go . [/quote] |
