I WOULD'VE CHOSEN TO COME HOME. I WOULD'VE CHOSEN YOU. IF ONLY YOU ASKED Bae was sitting in the cottage, waiting for his papa to get home with his mother. He knew he was told to stay put in the cottage, and, he didn't want to worry his papa by disappearing again, just like his mother. He stayed staring into the fire, as he waited in the cottage, he was hoping that something hadn't happened to his father as well, and, that he would actually come home. If he didn't then he would go out and find him himself, and, bring his mother home. He may be 8 years old, but, that didn't mean he wouldn't make an attempt to make sure his family stayed close to him. Instead Bae just pulled out his sketchbook and started drawing. Sketches of the three of them, him, his father and his mother together under their roof. Looking up as he heard the door opening, Bae hoped that he would see both of his parents. But, he only saw his father, putting the sketchbook down next to him Bae glanced up. "Papa. Where's mum?" |

Captin Jones had taken Milah now Rumpelstiltskin was left picking up the pieces of his broken home. The walk back had been a degrading one. Hearing the snickering seeing the pointing toward the coward . how would he tell Bae ? That his mother choose piracy over the life they had? Nudging the door open with his walking cane . seeing the Hopeful face of Baelfire drawing peacefully over his sketch parchment and coal. Then the soft innocent voice of their boy. Lowering his head glancing at the dirty clothes and shoes. Focusing on anything other then the question at hand. Bae , I ..I am sorry mama isn't coming home son. she , She pushing the door closed , eyes shutting out the roaring fire light from the hearth . lie save Bae from your fate tell him Milah died by pirates . this way he never has to know a parent didnt love him enough to stay. Bae she is dead. |

Bae continued to just draw in his sketch book as he awaited his father's return, before looking up as he heard him re-enter the cottage. He had hoped to see both of his parents walking through the door, and, was both surprised and worried when he only saw his father. Asking his question, Bae awaited his papa's answer. He peeked around his papa's body to allow himself to try and see if his mama was coming up behind him. The worry on his face grew as he noticed she wasn't coming, and, seeing the look on his face. 'Mama's not coming home son.' He sat down on the bench, as he heard those words from his father. “What?”] Bae said, the tears coming to his brown eyes as he looked around and then up at his papa. “Ho...how?” |

T he small voice of his boy made Rumple feel even more ashamed . he has cause Bae to lose his mama and now because of what he had not done. Hanging his head Rumple limped toward the boy. Lowering himself to the stool at the table sitting across Bae. Straightening his leg out resting leaning the walking stick against the table as well. She was abducted by pirates down by the tavern. I tried to go after them but I was to late they.. Bae she loved you know that remember that. the story had to be realistic for this to work. The more elaborate the more likely Bae would figure out that it was all a lie. Sighing his own heart hurt in a way he loved Milah this was yet another betrayal how could he handle this pain? Raising his head to lock eyes with his boy Rumple knew the answer he would continue by loving his boy the best way he could. Be papa and mama now. |

I WOULD'VE CHOSEN TO COME HOME. I WOULD'VE CHOSEN YOU. IF ONLY YOU ASKED Bae couldn't believe it. His mother was gone, and, he hadn't even been able to do anything. And he didn't even get to say goodbye to her. Bae just hoped that it was a painless death for his mother. Hopefully one day he would be able to actually say goodbye to her. Even if just in spirit. Hearing his papa speak again, Bae sighed and lowered his head before sitting down opposite his father. “I love her too. I really do.” Bae said, hoping that his mother knew that. He may be young, but, he still had a lot of love for his mother. Bae felt his heart break more, as he continued to sit there. So this is how it felt to have someone you loved taken away from you? He didn't ever want to feel it with someone else he loved or cared about. In this sense it was just his papa, but, the feelings were the same. The pain caused his anger to start to rise inside him. “Why didn't you stop them? You were outside the tavern together, if you saw them coming, you could've hidden her or taken her inside or something. Why did you let it happen papa?” Bae asked, feeling himself yelling at his papa without meaning to. |

T he anger Bae was lashing out with wasn't uncommon. Did it make Rumple feel any better far from it. Milah was gone Bae would have to expect this . bowing his head standing up reallying pressing his body weight into the walking stick in his grip. Bae I tried but your mother she was always so stubborn...she wouldn't listen to reason. She said she wouldn't coward like a dog and ran off . by the time I caught up she.. lowering his head in shame. This was better then the truth better that the boy didn't know . this will fade with time for now your heart aches because the loss is fresh. But with time your anger cool and you will have to understand . that sometimes life isn't fair Bae. limping away heading to the hearth of the fire. Picking up the fire poker stroking the flame making them rage higher. Life wasn't fair that was lesson he was taught time and time again. Now Bae was learning the lesson. Life was a cruel teacher sometimes parents leave to be selfish and abandon their children bit he would be here always standing by his boys side never far him. |

He had found himself lashing out at his father, which he knew he shouldn't, because his papa was the one person who was always there for him no matter what. Even his mother had disappeared more often then he would've liked. Bae stayed away from his papa, unable to look at him, but, not for the reason he would assume. He moved himself back towards the table, wanting to just escape in his art. Bae heard his papa make his way over, and, he heard his words “You should've made her listen papa. Tell her that we still needed her, that I still needed her. If you had told her that, maybe she wouldn't have seen it as cowering.” Bae said, lowering his head. Bae didn't know that this wasn't the truth of what had happened, but, what would he know? “Are you sure it will fade? I don't even think I'm actually angry all that much, I just needed to say some things. You're right, life isn't fair. I can see that now.”Bae knew that his papa was all he had now, and, he would always stick by his side, no matter what happened between them. Was it wrong for Bae to just want his family to stay the way it was supposed to be? He hoped not, because that's all he wanted. And he would do whatever it took to make sure that the two of them never seperated. |

T he words Bae was saying was like a knife in his heart. The whole world saw him as coward but for Bae to think that ..it was just much. Leaning resting his head against the walking stick. Rumple chose to be a coward so that his boy his reason would have a family . unlike what he had to live. I should have your right Bae , I failed you and for that no making up will ever do. I'm sorry Bae I'm so sorry unsurely reaching out to caress Bae head his hand ruffling the the dark brown curls. in time you will see that you can't always be brave sometimes doing nothing is the only choice you have. if he had fought Captain Jones then he would have died leaving Bae alone in the world. Noticing his retreat Rumple frowned but knew with time he would understand. Clapping a hand on the boys shoulder lifting himself up for the kneel position. |

He knew that he didn't think his papa was a coward, but, he needed someone to yell at. Bae lowered his head down towards the ground, as he fought back some of the tears in his eyes. He wanted his family, but, he also wanted it whole. “Yeah, you should've. But, you didn't fail me. It's ok papa, I didn't mean it.” Bae said, smiling softly as his papa caressed his head, ruffling his hair. “Well, I'm 8, I can't really do anything anyway. But, yeah I guess I can't be brave.” Bae looked down at the ground, sighing at him. Bae retreated back to the seat he was in before, unsure what to do or how to handle it. He smiled softly as his papa placed his hand on his shoulder, and, he watched him stand up. Bae didn't know what to do, but, he wanted to be close to his father, so he slowly walked back towards him, and, hugged him gently. |

B beautiful boy , he just accept it for the truth. Of Bae would why wouldn't he? Rumple had never lied to his son before . never had to but now that was tarnished. It was Milah's fault. Rumple moved toward the hearth removing the kettle for the fire place. A large cup of tea and something to would make him happy at this point. have you eaten ? it was mundane question but Bae needed to keep up his strength and the only way was to eat. Later after his son goes bed he would clean up his dead wife's belongings no use to upset Bae more then what he already was. |
