The docks, it seemed to be the only place where Emma is wanting to be right now. The sound of water clutching against the wooden sides of the docks, together with the absence of all the others was everything she need right now. The story book where everything had started with, laid opened upon her lap while the wind made a few of the pages turn. She was too upset, angry and disappointed to cry and let some tears escape from her eyes. She believed them and more importantly, she believed in them. She’d always thought they were the symbol of truth and honor. This was nothing like that symbol. They had lied, they had lied for what seemed to be months against her. No one was ever going to decide how she was going to be, that was something she would decide for herself. Everything fell into place now that her parents had told her the truth. The reason why Maleficent wants to get to the both of them, why she kept having the feeling that something wasn’t right every time she spoke to her parents. Her spider senses were right all along… Emma was even more determined now to get that author out of the book. Her parents weren’t exactly liking the idea, but after all they had done to keep her believing that horrible lie, this was just something that had to happen. Whether they liked it or not. All of this was still going about Operation Mongoose. They had to get the author out of the book and ask him to write happy endings this time. A lot of questions had to be asked and they were going to have the chance to get an answer to every single one of them. Emma got completely lost in her thoughts and emotions which resulted in noticing Neal walking towards her quite late. As a greeting she gave him a small smile, just to let him know that she wouldn’t start yelling at him the moment he would get closer. Neal Cassidy

IT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOME. WHEN YOU LEAVE IT, THERE'S THIS FEELING YOU CAN'T SHAKE. YOU JUST MISS IT.
Neal had finished his work at the store early tonight and had decided to stop by the comic book store to bring Cas some dinner before stopping by the house and making a surprise dinner for Rose. Neal was still getting used to the new stage of their relationship, but, he was getting the romantic thing right. He hoped so anyway. He had decided to take the long way back to his small house as he enjoyed the brisk breeze in the night air. The peacefulness of this moment caused him to think about what he had learnt about what his papa was really doing here. Something to do with the author of Henry's book, and changing the endings inside it. Neal had been trying to keep a close eye on his father, but, tonight he was focusing on something else. His plans to surprise both Cas and Rose with dinner. Soon Neal arrived at the docks where he had placed an order for a few ingredients for the dinner he was planning for Rose. It brought back memories of the food they had had on Neverland all those years ago. Fishing. The hunting of the animal life there. It was one of the best things he could think of for a plan right now, going back to the place where the two of them had first met. No matter what memories it brought back for both of them. After picking them up, Neal was about to continue his walk and head back to the house, when he noticed Emma was sitting on a bench not too far from him, and she was obviously upset about something. Neal knew that it probably wasn't his place to check on her, but, he couldn't see anyone else around. Hook, her parents, Henry. And besides they were supposed to be friends, so he may just do what friends are supposed to do. Make sure each other are ok. Placing the order in the bag that was sitting over his shoulder, he secured it before he placed his hands in the pockets of his jacket and then slowly began to make his way over towards her. Seeing Emma's smile, he smiled back at her too before reaching the bench where she was sitting. “Hey Emma. What's wrong?” Neal asked, knowing that asking if she was ok was probably a stupid question. Neal kept a kind tone in his voice as he looked down at her.

“It’s nothing.” Emma said as she avoid his gaze and made sure that any new tears wouldn’t form in her eyes. “I just want to be alone right now.” slowly her gaze met his, sniffing a few times as the cold air crept up her nose, giving it a slightly numb feeling and red color. The same color as the tears have caused her eyes to look like. “I’m sure you had way better plans than to see me crying out here, just like I’m sure that those plans better don’t wait” Emma gave Neal a small smile. She had noticed how him and Rose had been looking at each other and searched for each other’s company the moments they could. Emma wasn’t blind, nor was she having a negative opinion about it. He deserved this after what he’d been through with Tamara and all her lies. “Go to Rose, Neal. I’m sure she’s waiting for you. I’ll be fine. You know me… sometimes I just need some time for myself.” Another small smile formed on her lips while she closed the storybook that laid upon her lap. “Thank you for wanting to check on me, but it’s alright Neal. You go home to Rose.” Neal Cassidy

IT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOME. WHEN YOU LEAVE IT THERE'S THIS FEELING YOU CAN'T SHAKE. YOU JUST MISS IT. 'It's nothing Neal knew that while she said these words, it was definitely not what she meant. He knew it all too well. 'I just want to be alone right now' Neal sighed deeply and lowered his head. He remembered saying those exact words to Ariel, but, she had managed to get through to him anyway. Neal saw himself in Emma as she sat on that bench like that. Emma had always been one of his best friends, and always would be. Neal would never leave anyone in that state like this, especially not someone who he was as close to as Emma. “No. I would never leave you like this. The plans could wait.” Neal said, looking at her. Neal was surprising Rose, so it wasn't like he had to hurry. Neal knew that Killian would probably be here soon to take over the comforting. He knew how much Emma had changed Hook, and he saw the way they looked at each other. It was the same way that he glanced at Rose, ever since coming back to this town. Neal wasn't going to leave Emma alone for now. “Well, Rose is still in her class for a while. It was supposed to be a surprise, so I don't have to go quite yet.” Neal said, looking at Emma. “Yeah, and I also know me. There's a difference between what you think you need and what you actually need, right now. What you need right now is a friend.” Neal remembered that, he'd needed someone being there when he was feeling heart-broken and betrayed. Returning Emma's smile, Neal kept his hands in his jacket pockets, as he listened to her. “I know you better then that Emma. You obviously need someone to talk to, or vent to. I don't think Rose would mind if I was comforting a friend. Besides she isn't quite home yet, so I have some time to spare.” Neal said, before going to take a seat next to Emma on the bench. “So come on. Tell me what's wrong.”

A friend… Emma had to smile at that word. Maybe she was indeed needing a friend. One she’d known for a huge part of her life already now. One that she once hoped to have died for real in order to move on but wouldn’t think about losing at this present time. “You know…” Emma paused “… For this whole time that I got to know my parents I’ve always thought they were the heroes. That they were honest and truthful. But today I’ve got to see that all of that wasn’t true.” Emma’s eyes wandered towards Neal. She had to fight the urge to start crying out of anger and disappointment once more. This must have been exactly the same way as how Neal felt when Rumple betrayed him. Cause that was how it felt to the blonde right now. She felt betrayed by the people she’d learned to trust and believe in. Once again in her life she was getting betrayed by the people she loved. “They did something in the past I would have never thought they would be able to. They didn’t believe in me Neal. Even before I got born they weren’t able to believe in me. Maybe even the worst part of all this is that they weren’t able to believe in themselves…” Emma’s gaze left Neal’s, staring down at her hands that were fold together on top of her lap. “But I guess this is how the life of a savior needs to look like right?” Neal Cassidy

IT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOME. WHEN YOU LEAVE IT THERE'S THIS FEELING THAT YOU CAN'T SHAKE. YOU JUST MISS IT.
Neal was happy that he could make Emma smile, when she seemed like she didn't want to. He hadn't held anything against her when she told him she wished he stayed dead the first time. She didn't have to be sorry for anything. Neal had felt the same way about his father, so why would he hold it against her? Neal was glad they could still be friends, and, now he could be here for her. Listening to Emma's words, Neal looked at her. The disappointment in parents was something he knew well. He had felt it all those years ago when his papa let go of his hand over that portal, and, recently when his papa was going to choose the dagger a second time. "I'm sorry Emma, I know you had this image of your parents, and I also know you've been let down by people before." Neal glanced at Emma and smiled softly, knowing that there probably wasn't much else he could do at this point, but, one thing he knew was that in these situations it would be better for her to vent. He had been constantly let down by people he'd trusted. His father, Hook, Tamara and recently his father again. The feeling of family not believing in their kid was one that he knew well. Neal's father hadn't believed in him that night over the portal, believed that the two of them would be able to look after each other in this new world. And he constantly hadn't believed in him even before that, back in the Forest. "Look Emma, I'm not going to ask what they did, but, I know the feeling of parents not believing in you, or thinking of themselves more then their kid." Neal said, as he made his way closer to her. "The way the life of a saviour is supposed to look is that whoever they are, they should be able to know they really fought to be in the life they are."

“That’s just the point Neal. They weren’t thinking about themselves because the both of them didn’t believe enough that they would be able to raise me in a right way. They doubted themselves that much that their believe just disappeared.” Emma knew that they weren’t selfish or at least not intended. She knew that for sure but it wasn’t taking away what they had done to prevent themselves from failing. “Mary Margaret had seen a vision of me ripping out her heart, crushing it. A vision that she wasn’t able to forget and ignore. To her that seemed to be my future. They were afraid…” The more Emma talked about it, the more she started to see why they had done what they did. But that didn’t take away the anger and disappointment Emma felt by it. When both her parents told her this she wasn’t able to move at first. Shock took over for a few seconds but got replaced by all the anger of knowing that they had changed not only Emma’s life, but also another child. An innocent child. Emma looked back up at Neal when he mentioned how a savior’s life should be. She had to admit that he had a point in it. She had to fight a lot to have what she has now. But why wasn’t she able to stop fighting on keeping all of it for just once? “Thanks for… you know… listening. But I’m sure you have something way less emotional planned for the rest of your evening.” Emma said with a small smile. Neal Cassidy

IT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOME. WHEN YOU LEAVE IT, THERE'S THIS FEELING YOU CAN'T SHAKE. YOU JUST MISS IT.
Hearing the words of parents not believing in themselves made Neal sigh softly. Looking up, Neal nodded his head gently "I know all about that Emma. It's like my papa back when I was a kid. The reason I was abandoned was because my papa didn't think he could raise me without the power of the Dark One. When it came down to it, it was a combination of his cowardice, and, his doubt in himself and me at the same time." Neal kept his hands in his pockets, as he looked down, re-capping the moment over that portal all over again. "When the Ogre Wars came into effect, my father was worried he would lose me for good. Which is why he became the Dark One instead. My father didn't have a vision, but, the fact that he was a coward just made him constantly afraid. Constantly afraid that I was going to walk away from him." Neal didn't know why he was admitting all of this outloud, but, he was sure it had something to do with trying to make Emma feel better. It didn't make Neal feel any better about anything his papa had done all those years ago. He was nothing, but, a coward, which caused him to abandon his son. The bringing it back up out loud made Neal's heart hurt all over again, since it reminded him what had happened, and, what he'd been forced to feel as a result. But, the result of his papa abandoning him had caused not only him to be alone, but, in the long run Emma as well. Another innocent child. If it wasn't for his papa wanting the curse to undo his mistake, then Snow and Charming wouldn't have had to abandon Emma to keep her safe. Telling Emma how the saviour's life was supposed to be was the truth. A life worth fighting for. Alot like the life of a Dark One's son, he had to fight more then anything to prove that he wasn't like his father, and, occasionally it was to undo his papa's mistakes or actions. It hadn't been long since he saw his papa back in Storybrooke, and, he once again had to fight to keep his happiness and the current life he had desperately wanted to find a way back to, and, keep for once. "It's no problem really Emma. You know I'll always listen to you. Well, yeah, I, I do. But, I'm not quite due to start it just yet." Neal said, a small chuckle escaping his lips.

Emma knew what Neal his father had done to him, what he had done to a lot of others. Gold didn’t only ruin the life of his own son but many others. He’d even turned his own life into a miserable one, filled with finding ways to get back to his son. “I know that your father wasn’t the best man, and that he turned a lot of lives into nightmares. I just can’t understand that my own parents acted upon the same kind of fear like your father did. I thought that the believe they had in each other was strong enough to make them see that they could be the parents I was needing. But they didn’t. They didn’t believe.” Emma slightly shook her head in disbelief about everything that had happened that same day. It had been a very long day and all she could hope for was to have a bit of rest during the night that was about to come. “Do you remember when we talked about our parents when we were at that carrousel?” Emma locked her eyes with his when the memory of that moment appeared. They’d talked about Neal his father back then and about not knowing who her parents were. They found a way to bond with each other and now, now they connected once more by the subject of their parents. It was strange how fate sometimes worked its way around things. Neal Cassidy

IT'S HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE REALLY GOT A HOME, WHEN YOU LEAVE IT THERE'S THIS FEELING YOU CAN'T SHAKE. YOU JUST MISS IT
Neal knew that it was no secret what his papa had done to him all those years ago. He had ruined his life, as well as many other innocent people in the process. Especially Emma and Regina's. From what he'd seen he even turned his own life into a miserable one in an attempt to undo his mistake with him. “Not the best man is an understatement, he was horrible and selfish. Well, Emma sometimes fear can overcome everyone when it comes to desperation. Belief in people can be hard at certain points, I know that it was the same thing with my papa. My papa didn't have belief that he could continue being enough parent for me. He'd lied to me about a lot of things. And they were all for him rather then protecting me.” Neal said, sighing softly. From the sounds of it, Emma needed just some rest tonight. He would let Hook take care of that part, and, knowing Hook he'd show up soon, which would be Neal's cue to go. He would probably have been gone before that, since he'd have to meet Rose soon. “Of course I do. That isn't really the kind of first date you forget about.” Neal's eyes locked with Emma's as she looked up at his. He had told her the cliffnotes version of what happened between him and his father, well, rather what had happened to his father. And she had told him about her parents as well. It was a strange, yet sad thing to bond over your parents abandoning you. And now this was what was causing them to bond again now. Maybe his papa was right, 'everything that happens, happens by design.' That was proving itself now, the universe had strange ways of bringing fate into play.
