Developing Your Character!
1.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their
father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
*The relationship with my mother was a very close and respectful one. She was very dear to me, and still is even though she has passed away. I haven’t known my father that long, I don’t remember that much about him to be honest.
2.) What are your characters most prominent physical features?
*my scar on my chin I think, and Snow dares to say my arm muscles.
3.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
*Well it’s the same scar on my chin like I mentioned in the answer before this one. That scar has been made by my wife, before we knew each other of course. She smacked a rock against my chin in an attempt to get rid of me when I caught her after she had stolen my jewels.
4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
*I’m just normal looking.
5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?
*0
6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.
* That will be the moment when Snow said yes to my proposal to be my wife and the moment she told me she was pregnant.
7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
* I’m afraid there are a lot of events like that…. the one I would want to have erased is the one where we needed to send our daughter all alone through the wardrobe. Another one is the curse, it was horrible. If all of that didn’t happen, our daughter would have grown up together with us, and we would have been a real family.
8.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
* Actually I like the vanilla one with chocolate sprinkles in it. Favourite colour is red, Thunderstruck by AC/DC is a good one, as a flower I pick the little Snowbells, they let me think about my wife.
9.) Who does your character trust?
* Snow, my daughter Emma, grandson Henry, Archie, Leroy, Ruby, Granny, all the other dwarfs.
10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.
* When my mother died, when I met Snow, when I knew I was going to be a dad, when I needed to act like a prince for the first time.
11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?
* A lion maybe? No idea actually, never thought about it.
12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
* I still prefer letters, I try to work with technology but I admit that I still need some practice with certain things.
13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
* Well most of the time I don’t have any covers left when I wake up in the morning, since Snow has the little habit on taking them in the middle of the night and not giving them back.
Most of the time I am sleeping on my side, it depends on which side but most of the time I’m facing Snow. When the sun shines very brightly in the morning I dare to put my pillow over my eyes to block it away and stay in bed a bit longer.
14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
* I actually adjust better to cold weather than warm weather. Both of it isn’t really that great, but cold weather is a bit more bearable for me. I will drink a lot of coffee when it gets colder and sleeping close to each other is also something that works to keep warm at night.
When it’s hot I dare to wear only a short and sandals and I won’t be needing bedcovers then.
15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?
* I can get up early if I need to, but I prefer to lay in bed a bit longer, snoozing a little bit. So maybe I’m more of a night owl?
16.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?
* I have the feeling that I’m not knowing every member of my family yet, so I don’t dare to answer this one already.
17.) What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?
* It’s a mix of the two. When it’s closer to the weekend it will be a bit more messy than at the start of the week.
18.) Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)
* Well I dare to say that I bake very good pancakes and just making breakfast in general. My favourite recipe will be my chocolate pancakes.
19.) What’s your character’s preferred means of travel?
* using my truck or on foot.
20.) Does your character have any irrational fears?
* That my family will be ripped away from me once again.
21.) What would your character’s cutie mark be?
* a wink
22.) If your character could time travel, where would they go?
* Back to the time where the curse wasn’t existing yet, and I would do everything to prevent it from happening.
23.) Is your character superstitious?
* I believe in fate.
24.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?
* An exact copy of my wife.
25.) Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?
* They are normal size for a guy, so not that small but also not that huge. I have long and normal fingers.
26.) Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.
* Oreo’s, a jeans with a T-shirt and maybe a shirt over that T-shirt, Coffee, winter and Christmas.
27.) Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them.
* Superman from Boyce Avenue. Because it wasn’t easy to be me while the curse still existed in Storybrooke.
And Gone gone gone by Philip Philips because the song represents what I want to be for my family. I want to be there for them.
28.) If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be?
* Romance, drama and fantasy.
29.) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
* I like Axe.
30.) And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
Dear Charming,
Be there for your family at all times, even when it’s dark or not easy. Keep having fate and hope that everything will be like you have dreamed off.
You will find your happiness.
