Aphrodite is, as we know, the “goddess of love, desire, beauty, pleasure, and passion”; she is also the very embodiment of desirability, passion and want. This goes beyond her powers into her very body and being. Even if her goddess essence was completely bound and all her powers rendered moot she would still be this; an ultimate symbol of carnal desire and influential of any being’s innate need for such. She is undeniable.
Aphrodite is of an older generation than “The Three” (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon), born of Ouranos (Uranus) when his son, Cronus, castrated him tossing his genitals into the ocean; from the foam of semen arose the female equivalent of perfection. Thus she has maintained a sort of higher standing amongst the Pantheon, giving her a freedom of action and movement beyond that of others while developing an apparent reputation. She appears to have been avoided by a great many, respected and even feared by others; even Zeus appeared wary and cautious of her. She is the ultimate symbol of beauty and desire, something everyone wants but relatively few may have. It was these traits that inspired Zeus to separate her from the pool by bonding her off to Hephaestus (more on him later) to prevent contention and possible war over who would/could have her.
Her powers include:
-The ability to instill unhindered and uncontrollable passion, desire, love, and/or lust in other beings (supernaturally gifted, god or goddess, and especially the famously susceptible mortals included) for any person, creature, object, or even activity.
-The ability to create physical and/or mental/emotional pleasure so intense as to render the recipient both completely pliant and entirely incapacitated with little more than a thought.
-Basic yet powerful telekinesis.
-Standard teleportation (herself and objects of reasonable size).
Personality traits:
-Extraordinarily intelligent and cunning, a master manipulator with a gift for seeing and/or predicting things far into the future that may need to be changed or adjusted.
-Extremely self-absorbed; she knows exactly what she is and has never been denied or forced into anything she hasn’t honestly wanted to do. Nor would she allow it. (Her very nature means that few are inclined to deny her what she wants while her powers make forcing those who aren’t an easy task.)
-She knows all too well the power of love and its accompanying complications and thus she has developed a surprising coldness towards any true acknowledgement of it. She isn’t entirely uncaring but she is also not inclined toward sentimentality of any kind.
-She is a huge brat; she is what she is and has always been wanted, by everyone and everything. Always capable of picking and choosing she has gotten quite used to getting what she wants. Nothing will prevent her from gaining it and she is ruthless in her pursuit of what she desires. (Some would call accuse her of vanity, but her view of herself comes from her identity as simply what she is; it isn’t vanity if it is undeniable fact.)
-She is capable of shocking brutality and viciousness, usually verbal and manipulative. She has no qualms about causing death but generally keeps her hands physically clean.
