"I'm going on an adventure." Roland wasn't a happy camper today at all as he sat staring out the window watching his daddy leaving once more. He sighed heavily as he sneezed once more as his father waved once more to him. He waved sluggishly back to his dad as he was overcome by a coughing fit once more. He really didn't like not being able to spend time with his father, but he didn't mind considering that he was spending a few days with Regina. Granted, he had ended up rather sick after catching the flu bug, but that was hardly unusual considering it was that time of the year. Though that meant he was stuck in bed until he was better which didn't really sit well with little Roland sighing heavily. Currently, he was sitting in Henry's old room since Henry was most likely with his other family which meant that he was with Regina all to himself. Not normally a bad thing usually, but he just hated that he was stuck in bed when it was such a nice day outside. He was feeling rather crummy today having spent the last night throwing up and having his Dady stay up with him for the better part of the night. Needless to say, he was rather tired as he resigned himself to the fact he wasn't going to be going anywhere at the moment. Looking around Henry's room he sighed gently debating what exactly he was going to do considering he had no intention of staying in bed. Sure, he was really tired, but he was also a child that didn't have the mind frame to let himself give into the fact that he was tired. He was barely five as it was and being in bed on a nice day didn't suit his needs. Even if he was really sick, but he felt fine for the moment as he looked through the bookshelf. There were a lot of books belonging to Henry from his childhood days, but he didn't exactly find anything entirely interesting. Besides, he just liked looking at all the pretty pictures, for the most part, feeling his stomach growling a bit. He was hungry considering his dad had dropped him off rather early which left him slightly hungry, though considering last night he wasn't entirely sure about it. At the very least, he didn't want to sit upstairs all by himself even if he was told to be in bed. That just wasn't about to happen at this point as he stood there a moment debating climbing back into bed or sneaking downstairs. He really didn't like being without his dad especially when he was sick, but his dad was merely worried about him being sick and sleeping in the woods. Not to mention he was going to be busy so he had asked Regina to look after him though he didn't really understand most of that. He moved to crawl in bed, but his need for company won out and he made to move downstairs. Peeking out of room he checked to see if the coast was clear before making his way out of the room in the little batman pyjamas Regina had outfitted him in. He loved some of the things she picked out for him particularly these pyjamas and a few others as she crept down the stairs. He really didn't want Regina mad at him, but maybe if he just asked to sit real quiet like she wouldn't mind that so much listening to his stomach again. He swallowed thickly as he continued down the stairs, careful to avoid the one seemingly creaky step he'd located once before. Granted that time around, he'd been trying to sneak back out after his Daddy, but he knew better than that. He just didn't like being separated from his father for long periods of time, it just couldn't be helped. He'd even get rather anxious and sometimes not eat, depending on who he was with. Luckily, Regina was quickly becoming a favourite of Roland's so he wasn't so bad with her. Making his way down the stairs and to the main floor, he carefully padded down the hallway trying to recall where everything was located. He couldn't quite remember where everything in the house was situated exactly as he moved cautiously around the house. He probably should have just stayed in bed, but he was just feel so crummy that he didn't want to be alone. Not to mention he was rather thirsty when he finally noted the kitchen in the house and made his way over to it. He probably could have just asked Regina, but if she was busy he didn't want to bother her. Besides, she probably didn't want to be with him while he was sick anyways. Well maybe that wasn't true, but she had spent quite a bit of that time speaking to his father about adult things after he was tucked into Henry's old room. Locating the fridge, he carefully eased it open and tried to find something to drink noting a container of milk, some sodas, orange juice and a couple of other things. However, upon locating a lonely apple juice box he decided to try and reach for it. Granted, he wasn't exactly tall enough to reach for it, but he attempted to anyways stretching up on his tiptoes startled when he heard movement behind him. Hearing a voice behind him he startled, nearly knocking over the pitcher of milk as he quickly snapped the fridge shut and looked around the corner to see who it was. Robin was off to track down Sariel those two had unfinished business . Poor little baby doll Roland was sick. Regina choose to stay home with the boy. It reminded her of when Henry was little . This was a away for them to bond all over again since he returned back from New York. Shutting the door and setting the alarm hearing spinning about she started to go up the stairs only to pause when she heard the fridge door opening . Marching toward the kitchen pushing the swinging door in time to see the milk drop out the fridge the glass pitcher smashing on to the black and white tile. White puddle pooling at the boys feet .
Sweet heart don't move there is glass and I don't want you hurt. frowning as she spoke out heading to Roland. Picking him up and placing up sitting into the kitchen island . I'm not mad but if you need something tell me alright sweetie caressing his plump cheek. He was burning up drink your juice Roland while clean up the mess.
Quickly cleaning the glass and milk up . Then grabbing fever reducer medicine and spoon. okay now here is something to make you feel less icky but you have to be a big boy and take it alright. Later I'll bring you chicken noodle would like that ? pouring the medicine into the spoon holding it out for Roland to take it open wide honey bunny she coped at the littlest merry man.

"I'm going on an adventure." Roland honestly hadn't thought he was doing anything wrong when he headed downstairs to get himself something to drink. He was shy by nature even if he was warming up towards Regina, finding her to be like a second Mummy. Or better yet the type of Mummy that he tended to envision when some of the kids teased him about it. Not that he said anything to either of the adults in his life as he didn't like to bother them with trivial things. Sure, he had yet to actually mention the 'M' word out loud, but he liked to think she was a pretty good substitute. She even managed to make his Dad really happy so that was always a plus in Roland's mind seeing the two together. Plus, Regina was really fun to be around when she wasn't scolding him for doing something dangerous, but he tended to avoid that as much as possible. Even if his curiosity was something that did cause issues, but getting a glass of apple juice was hardly dangerous. He still didn't know why he couldn't be with his dad, but for the time being he didn't mind being with Regina. He just wished he wasn't so sick when he was spending the couple days with her. So he had gone to the kitchen in search of something to satisfy his thirst. The problem was when he did locate his drink, he ended up scaring himself when Regina caught him in the kitchen. He should have been in Henry's old bedroom, but he didn't exactly know better. Besides, he was actually feeling a bit better today after last night spent being sick. He swallowed nervously as he glance up at the woman, worried he may get into trouble and in his haste managed to upset the milk container. He jumped slightly as the pitcher hit the floor shattering into tiny pieces and managing to splash part of Roland's pyjamas in the process. He opened his mouth to say something, but he was too nervous at the moment as he just stood there not sure what to do. Luckily, Regina was quick on her feet as she slowly made her way over to Roland who tried to decipher whether she was mad at him or not. He heard her instruct him not to move so that's what he did, looking at the mess on the floor and back at the closed fridge. So much trouble it seemed just to get himself a simple glass of apple juice. Given he couldn't move anywhere anyways he just waited for Regina. He didn't have to wait long before she was picking him up into her arms and sitting him on the kitchen island. He always loved it when the adults in his life picked him up, particularly when he was scared, nervous or even just because he wanted to. He just felt more secure in the arms of his father or anyone close to him when he was wrapped up tight knowing nothing could hurt him. True, nothing was going to be hurting him while he was with Regina at her house, but it still felt nice when he was sick or what not to be able to curl up in her arms. Realistically, he was fairly certain the adults loved to pick him up anyways given how often they indulged this part of him. Or maybe he was just really good at manipulating the adults in his life, but either way he was always much happier in his dad or Regina's arms. Unless of course, he was going off on one of his little adventures and having some fun exploring or playing games. Being sick though changed things, and Roland mostly just wanted to be close to someone as she attempted to clean up his mess. He sighed a bit in relief though when she mentioned that she wasn't mad at him only wishing he'd have talked to her. "But I didn't want to bother you," murmured Roland, looking away a moment as he started coughing again. He really was getting frustrated with this being sick business wishing he was better as his little legs swung against the island. After all he was only 5 so he couldn't exactly reach the floor just yet. He stood there all there patiently as he touched her hand to his warm cheek, subconsciously leaning into the touch. At least until she pulled her hand away and told him to drink his juice which he did as she cleaned up the mess. Over the past couple of weeks he had suddenly grown rather fond to what Regina called apple juice as he sipped it in the plastic cup she'd offered him. He still felt really bad about the fact he had broken the pitcher even if she had said he wasn't in trouble. He just sat there taking a good look around from his new vantage point as Regina left to go get something leaving him alone. He was alright for the moment minus the being sick and the occasional coughing fit he seemed to succumb to at times. Hearing her come back into the kitchen, he turned his head watching her track through the now spotless room. He could see something in her hands wondering what it could be. He was still getting used to the food and other things in the house so he was curious to know what she had. He gave her a small smile, looking up at her as she stood in front of him, telling him that he needed to be a good boy and take something for her. Given the fact that he had yet to taste cold medicine before, he didn't exactly object to her words simply nodding his head. "Okay Regina, I can be big boy," replied Roland trying to emphasize that he would do anything to please her or her father. He watched as she poured the stuff into a spoon and slowly moved it towards his mouth which hadn't happened in the longest time. He paused to deal with a coughing fit before slowly opening his mouth to take the stuff, instantly regretting it when the taste finally registered. He tried to spit it out, but it was too late and he sat there sticking his tongue out and scrunching his face up. That definitely didn't taste very good even if it should help. That was definitely going on the never again list of things he hated along with broccoli and possibly every other vegetable. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

Cleaning up the mess and glass was an easy task. A simple flick of the wrist done. Regina wasn't worried about pitcher , or the floor. What she was concerned about was Roland. Moving towards him on the counter. Checking his arms and feet wanting to make sure he wasn't hurt.
Sighing lowering her head You weren't and never could bother me I adore you . Right now your sick and shouldn't be out of bed. caressing his cheek proofing them in cloud of magic. Taking them to Henry's room . Once arrived the mayor snapped her fingers making the pjs dry.
you are a big boy and big boys listen don't they? turning back the covers on the bed sinking down on to the mattress patting the uncovered spot to Roland. He was adventurous that was definitely sure. do you want a bed time story? asking brushing a curl away from the little boys forehead with het fingertips . So much like Henry but perhaps all little boys are like that .

"I'm going on an adventure." Roland always found it so interesting watching Regina use magic even if he couldn't exactly imitate her. Certainly would make part of his life a lot easier or at least he thought so watching her in awe. It never ceased to amaze the little boy and it at least distracted him from the rather bad taste settling in his mouth. He hated that medicine and he hoped he wasn't going to have to deal with that again because it was yucky. He only wanted the good stuff as far as he was concerned as the pitcher repaired itself making Roland clap his hands in excitement. He didn't understand what the fuss was about at the moment and why people didn't use magic as often as they could. Then again, he was too little to understand the rules of using magic and mostly just thought it was something cool and he wanted to learn. Or rather he just wanted to be like Regina who seemed so nice that he couldn't really understand why some people were mean to her. Calling her this evil queen or something whatever that actually meant. He turned his attention back to Regina though as she made her way over to him. Concern evident in her face even if he looked none the worse and giggling when she inspected his hands and feet. He tilted his head a bit when Regina sighed and lowered her head making him wonder if he'd done anything to upset her. Should he use this time to give her a hug maybe? That normally put her in a good mood though possibly not right now while he was sick. Could adults even really get sick like little kids did? He tried to think of a time when his father had been sick, but he couldn't say for certain at this point in time. He shrugged it off anyways until Regina started talking again about how he should be back in bed, turning to speak. That was the whole point of coming downstairs in the first place. He didn't want to be upstairs all by himself with no one around. He wanted to be with Regina where he could feel much more at home or at least that was his thoughts. He was sick and he didn't like being alone especially after last night. He tried to explain why he didn't want to be up there, but she didn't seem to want to listen. She merely caressed his cheek and next thing he knew they were already back in Henry's bedroom much to Roland's dismay. Not that he didn't like Henry's room, but it meant being alone which he didn't like. Generally most people didn't like being alone and he really didn't see what the big deal was for him having to be up here. He'd much rather watch cartoons or sit quietly on the sofa or even in Regina's office. Did it really matter that much that he had been kept upstairs like a prisoner. He opened his mouth again, but she didn't seem to be paying attention as she cleaned his pajamas and prepared his bed again. He coughed again as he stared at the floor looking at this little feet and wiggling his toes. "I am, but do I have to-" started Roland only to cut himself off when Regina got the bed ready and gestured for him to sit down under the covers. He sighed gently knowing he had already broken one of Regina's rules and resigned himself to doing what he was told. He just wasn't interested in settling in his bed at the moment even if he was tired. Sure, Henry's room was nice and Regina had even pulled out the boy's old nightlight, but he cared little for that. Sleeping was a lot harder when he didn't have the security of knowing his Daddy was right there in the event of a nightmare. Crawling onto the bed, he made to settle himself on the mattress as best he could sighing heavily as he allowed Regina to tuck into bed. He shook his head though when she asked if he wanted a bedtime story as he glanced outside his window. How could she possibly expect him to sleep when it was still daytime? "Can't I just lay on the couch downstairs? Or watch cartoons...I'm not sleepy Regina," replied the little boy as she gently ran a hand through his mop of hair. He wasn't really about to admit that it was mostly he was scared the shadow man from before might hurt him or even just being alone. He was suppose to be the big boy but ever since that day all those months ago, it had left a lasting impression on the tiniest merry man. Which was probably why he tended to stick close to the adults or at least when he was feeling crummy or nervous. Besides, he really just wanted Regina to stay by his side. Was that such a hard request? MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

Her heart sank for the little boy, most children never wanted to be in bed when sick . tucking the covers up to his chest pressing the blanket down over @roland . smiling kindly she received a rule from her mother of all people which was almost laughable if the evil queen . the woman wasnt the warmest of people but this was the one thing . If your sick then you stay in bed and if your not you go to your tutors. which is the next thing she would have to speak to Robin about Roland was the age to go school . truly needed to be around children his own age or bonding with others could be difficult. brushing more hair away from Roland face . how about i stay up here with you till you fall a sleep? hmm?
Lays down next to the boy draping a arm over the child. I'm to sing you a lullaby it always helped Henry to sleep when he didnt feel well beginning to hum Laid by my side, and we'll sail away.Off to the shores of another day.All set to go once I hear you say.Goodnight my friend, until the morning.Up we will float as we close our eyes.Stars all around us like fireflies.Just me and you drifting through the skies.Goodnight my friend. Not a thought. Not a care.Resting safe and sound. With each other there. And so we'll rock on a nightime ride.Cozy and warm on the rolling tide.Till we arrive on a morning side. Our journey's end.Goodnight.Sleeptight.We're going to be alright.Goodnight my friend. she sung softly trying to soothe the boy.

"I'm going on an adventure." She didn't appear to be listening at all to him which frustrated the little boy as he sat in bed wishing nothing more than to be somewhere else. Being sick was definitely not very fun as he coughed again while settling down in the bed as Regina moved to tuck in. He often wondered if he missed doing that with her other kid Henry since he seemed a bit big for this sort of stuff, but she never questioned her about it. Then again, he didn't often get a chance to talk to Henry either even if he was like a big brother which Roland didn't mind. Currently though he just seemed really distracted like everyone else so he didn't really want to bother him too much. He wished he knew what everyone was so upset about as the covers were drawn up to his chest and Regina made sure he was very comfortable. At least the bed was nice and soft and warm which was kind of good he supposed even if he was feeling yucky. Too bad he couldn't ban parents from enforcing things like this as he got himself comfy. He could feel Regina brush her hands through his mop of brown hair making him smile. He loved when she did that because it made him think of his other Mummy which just made him sad. Still at least Regina was kind of like a Mummy and he liked that about her even if she was something very strict. "Okay Regina," murmured Roland albeit reluctantly sighing heavily as he tried to settle himself in Henry's bed. At least she was willing to stay with him for a little bit even if it wasn't exactly what he wanted. He would have much rather been sleeping downstairs where she was closest to him. He sighed heavily reaching over to his little plastic cup of water to take a few sips before settling back down. Really he was just trying to make any excuse to stay awake a little longer even as Regina came to lie down beside the little boy. That made him smile a little as he cuddled into her, his back against her feigning sleep as much as possible. Considerably hard at the moment when he wanted nothing to do with sleep. "You not gonna leave right? Yo..you'll be here? I dun want shadow man after me," murmured Roland nervously biting his lip as he glanced towards the closed blinds of Henry's room. He just couldn't help it even after all this time in the safety of his loving father and Regina. He suspected his father had told Regina about that night, but he wasn't entirely sure. Didn't help that he was so nervous trying to go to sleep at times. It just couldn't be helped at times after that last encounter which made him more nervous. Even the occasional shadows spooked the little boy making her weary and cautious. Had it not been for his Daddy acting so fast, he might not have even been here. A scary thought to be sure of as she started humming a song. It was certainly a pleasant lullaby as he closed his eyes a few times despite how he tried to force himself to stay awake. Whether it was the warm bed, his sickness, Regina's singing or just straight up being tired, Roland eventually drifted off to sleep. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

Furrowing her brow at the boys question...shadow man. This was news to her but she wouldn't leave she didn't want to cause mental anguish for the child. Wrapping a protective arm about the child. As sang the song . The soft even breathing of the boy was a dead give a way that slumber had over taken the boy .
Rolling over attempting to get up unnoticed . Lips creating a thin line as she moved . Focusing on trying to not wake the clearly sick child. Standing up easily heading toward the hall way . Rubbing the back of her neck . The stress of recent events starting to takes its on the Mayor.

"I'm going on an adventure." Roland didn't see the confused look on Regina's face, but it was probably for the better as he cuddled into the woman. The woman he often thought of as his mother who always seemed to make time for him. It was a really nice thought as he felt her arm come around him in a protective manner. He sighed contently under the covers even if he hadn't really wanted to fall asleep in the first place. He would have much rather been watching cartoons or at least sleeping downstairs knowing she was just a little bit closer to him. He really didn't understand why he couldn't do that since he could still sleep, just not up here where he was all alone and more likely to get taken. He shivered at the mere thought, but eventually her singing and arm around him eventually caught up to the little boy. He slowly started to drift off to sleep the occasional sniffles coming from the little boy unaware that Regina had eventually left him alone. He continued to dose restfully for awhile there, the only light penetrating from behind the curtains even if it was still kind of yucky outside. At the very least it was warm in the bed as he snuggled in closer to the pillow, finding that the longer he drifted off the more secure he felt. At least until his subconscious took off and he found himself starting to dream. He was in a meadow just enjoying him as he ran around in circles trying to pick up as many flowers as possible. He didn't know why he needed the flowers just that he wanted to pick them up. There were just so many different coloured flowers and it seemed as though new ones just kept popping up. He was having a very good time of it all he raced around trying to get them all even as the sun filtered through the tree lines. It was actually quite peaceful as his imagination continued to grow, expanding the meadow and adding apple trees and a small little stream. He tended to have a rather active imagination which didn't always feel like a bad thing to the sweet little boy. He continued to run around his little sanctuary which was here his mind always tended to go to because it was safe and hidden. Well at least in his dream world it was a safe haven for the little boy allowing him the freedom to do whatever he wanted. It was a bit like magic really considering he had everything at his disposal like the apple sauce that magical appeared in front of him. Best of all was the fact that he wasn't sick in his dreams and could eat anything and everything including this apple sauce. It was everything that Roland could hope for as he rolled around in the nice warm grass.
He was really starting to enjoy himself with the butterflies fluttering around him that seemed to appear from the surrounding trees. Except it wasn't quite perfect as he closed his eyes turning when he saw his father coming towards him. He raced off towards his father smiling gently as he nuzzled into the man. His father didn't speak, but that didn't bother Roland very much as he just hugged the man turning when the atmosphere of his meadow started changing. What was once bathed in sunlight started to shrivel and die as a darkness started forming overhead. Roland started whimpering trying to bury his head into his Daddy's chest only to stop when he hear a laugh penetrating the once peaceful sanctuary. Roland looked up to see a pair of white shimmering eyes like stars staring at him with nothing except utter blackness.
"Wh-Who..where Daddy?" asked Roland nervously as he pulled away from the figure.
"Your Daddy's never coming back. You've got me now. You're mine," replied the shadowy figure as he moved towards the scared little boy.
"No, I want Daddy," pleased Roland even as the figure merely started laughing again.
"Your daddy doesn't care about you...he's got a new one," reasoned the figure moving in a circular formation around Roland who was starting to cry.
"No that no true. Regina lo-," tried the little boy as the shadowy figure descended upon him turning his meadow into nothing but flames and darkness.
"She's got Henry, Robin...your just in the way. A burden..," snarled the figure as Roland started shaking watching as he pulled a dagger from out of nowhere."MUMMY!" screamed Roland, as he bolted upright, not even aware that he'd made a mess of the bed. He didn't even spare a minute, only to startle more when a thin shadow seemed to move across the floor. Terrified Roland leapt from the bed, tripping in his panicked state as he tried to find Regina. He was already in tears as he moved quite fast down the stairs not even knowing where he was going. He had to find her so that the shadow man couldn't get him. He didn't even realize when he'd collided into the very person he wanted. Only whimpering 'Mummy' over and over again as tears slid down his face. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

The sudden scream made Regina drop the wine glass she had just filled. Racing to meet the crying child at the bottom of the stairs. Holding him tight, sinking down to her knee kneeling before the sweet boy. Kissing his forehead. shh sweet heart what's the matter? Did you have a bad dream? whooshing a hand making the mess clean up in puff of magical cloud. Plastic cups would be needed in this house. when I was little and had bad dreams my father taught me how to stop the nightmares you want to hear about them? picking Roland up rocking the boy in her arms. He was so tense and the sharp wails were soul shattering. I'm here sweetie no one is going to harm you not while I'm around. Was it the shadow man? asking out in hush tones. Every child has the booties man. does he only come in dreams she was hoping for a yes on this and it wasn't a real threat.
She knew Sariel was becoming more and more prominent within the town . Surely Roland hadn't been any where near the child. Holding on tighter to young boy as fear ripped through her. Had she failed the little boy that she promised protect. Kissing Roland once more Regina stood up slowly heading to the living room carrying the child with her.
