He was bound by promises, and having made a vow long ago in the Enchanted Forest to himself to protect her. John had felt a certain unalienable guilt upon seeing Emma accept the darkness into her heart. And he wasn't exactly the kind of man to shy away from danger. They had been gone six weeks, and in that short time period, he was still in search of a way to retrieve his beloved. Closing his eyes, he began to have that thought but soon turned it away for now. He felt the need to apologize to Emma, for failing her as he had thought.
He had protected her in anyway he knew how, whether that was advice, or getting people out of the way. John had a distinct role to play for himself while she was in Storybrooke, and he was willing to drive an arrow through the hearts of those that would harm her. But now, he was in a conflict. She was the Dark One, and he remembered those many years ago when he was caught in a bind, having to go against his honor. The one thing that had defined what kind of man he was. A man who ran to danger, and he wasn't about to stop now. Taking a deep breath, he'd close his eyes and call out.
"Emma, I know you're there. Show yourself!"

Emma rolled her eyes when she sensed another call out for her to appear. A grey cloud of smoke brought her to the person who expected to see her. Her arms were crossed in front of her chest while she leaned against the doorframe of the living room from Scar’s mansion. “You could have just asked me to appear instead of commanding it Scar.” Emma her voice was low and calculated. Why would he be wanting her to appear? With slow steps she made it into the living room, walking past the man, while one of her fingers brushed over the surface of one of the cabinets. “So… Scar… where do I owe this unexpected visit to? You do realize that if you would be looking for a deal, you are talking to the wrong Dark One. Rumple was the one that loved to make deals but unfortunately that poor man got another turn of events. His heart was having quite the struggle you see…” She turned on the balls of her feet and faced the once called lion. She waited to hear what the purpose of this whole appearing command was. It was better worth it, or a certain price had to be paid for the effort. John Pride/Arno Dorian/Scar

Watching as Emma perused around his home he'd follow her all the while, calm and collected as he usually was. Hearing her ask what she owed this visit, he'd close his eyes and sighed. His eyes gazed over to her as if a father was looking at his child going through a downfall. Because to him, Emma was someone special. Her parents had constantly told him to never give up hope, that love had always found a way. And he too suffered as he looked her dead on in the eye. Finally his mouth would open and his heart would pour out to her. He had broken a vow.
"You weren't born yet when I did, but I made a vow to myself and to your parents to always protect you as if you were my own" he'd start. "I was to keep you from harm and to keep you on the path of the light....if it endangered you, I would've been there to stop it" he'd look to her again "I've failed that vow, whatever happened in Camelot it changed you for the worse....I've failed not only myself and your parents, but also you" locking eyes with her he'd look her up and down, and he felt a sharp pain at seeing her in this darkened state of hers.
"If I could rid you of the Darkness without the dagger, I would, it's destroying you Emma....I swear that if I had been there I would've been in your place ready to bind myself to it.....because I can fight it" he'd mention, not knowing the true potential of the Darkness. But he was brave and valiant, and he meant every word he said to Emma.
"I summoned you to ask for your forgiveness, I've failed you.....and the people around us, I told them I would keep you safe.....and I failed you...."
Recent events were beginning to tear Scar up, first Elsa disappears, then Emma goes dark. Pretty soon something worse could happen....

Emma listened to every word of his remorseful speech. A speech that was supposed to make her feel empathized with his pain, his feeling of loss and betrayal in some sort of way. A grin spread across her face while she slowly walked to him, leaning forward so her mouth was only inches away from his ear. “Yes, you failed me, all of you did. Too bad that there isn’t a way to save me” her words came out with nothing more than a whisper that moved through the air and filled the silence of the room. Emma stepped back, snapping her fingers to make two glasses of whiskey appear on the table at Scar’s living room. “It is quite amusing that you think you could have fought against it, the darkness, because no one can. No man, no woman and certainly not a beast.” Emma took a hold of both of the glasses, reaching one out to Scar. “I thought you might want to have a bit of whiskey. It always made you feel a bit better didn’t it? Feeling the alcohol slide down your throat, the warmth embracing your stomach, making you able to forget all the mistakes you made, who you failed?” Emma took a slow sip from her own glass, her eyes closed themselves by the taste of the liquid only to open up and lock them with the man in front of her. “Forgiveness….” Another grin appeared while she started to pace through the room in slow steps. “… what a wonderful word isn’t it? Too bad that only a few are actually getting it.”John Pride/Arno Dorian/Scar

Felt a certain coldness to her soft voice and when she whispered it only brought chills down the former assassin's spine. Hearing her say that they all failed her brought a sense of unease to him and he felt temptation there. Here she was, dark, but beautiful. And now she was offering him whiskey. Looking down at the glass he'd take it before sniffing the glass. The smell of Highland Park 30 Scotch greeting his nose as he looked towards her. She was tempting him with the sweet nectar that had always greeted him before. When all had seemed lost, he'd dive into the bottle. Looking down at it, he contemplated sipping it. Before finally setting the glass down on his counter.
"No" he'd say simply before pushing the glass away. It was as if Emma was asking him to return to his past, and to drown himself in liquor like he always did. "As tempting as it is, and a good bottle at that, I can't bring myself that low again" it was amazing that Scar was even going as far to deny a bottle. He'd look towards Emma with his deep eyes, and finally he'd bite his lip as she said that only a few would be getting forgiveness. He looked to the woman before him. And thoughts returned to his head, he wondered what was going on through her head right now. He wondered what happened in Camelot. Things began to feel so confusing.
"Emma, listen to me, I don't know if I did anything. Because I know myself and where I was before I came out. I was focused on my own selfish goals, I had lost so much when we went to Camelot. If I did anything to you personally, I'm sorry" he'd frown, confusion written all over his brow. She was grinning, and she had become somewhat of a temptress in his eyes. Chills ran down his spine and he finally stopped before closing his eyes. And looking deep into hers, yet keeping a comfortable distance between them. He was trying to be faithful, he was still engaged after all.
"I promise this is our secret Emma, when have I ever lied to you?" he'd ask gently before looking out the window to his beautiful view outside. The trees ordaining the yard perfectly and giving it a sense of a humble mansion away from the grasp of civilization. Living in the outskirts of the main town did have its perks. "What happened in Camelot?"

Someone seemed to have changed… “oh well, look at that, Scar who is refusing to drink one of the best tasting whiskeys there is. Maybe miracles didn’t leave this town just yet.” Emma let her eyes linger onto the man while taking another sip. “Too bad you have to miss the taste of this.” her voice was slow and calculated. Emma listened carefully to the words that came out the man’s mouth. Words filled with regret and forming the one question after the other. Emma couldn’t help it to start laughing. “Do you really think that any of your regretful words are going to make it up for what all of you did? You’re being pathetic Scar. Please don’t lower yourself like that or I’m going to start to think you are much more of a coward than I thought.” Emma placed her glass down onto one of the nearby cabinets before leaning against it with her back, her attention not leaving Scar. “Awww I’m sorry, did you just said you never lied to me? Maybe you did, maybe you didn’t, but I think you forgot about all the others you might have lied to and therefor, failed.” The last word got out like a whisper. “By my knowing you failed your mother, your father and hmmm let me think” she faked to be thinking before continuing. “oh right, you failed to protect Elsa. Oh yes I know about that. And of course, to end the list of people you failed, me.” Emma walked towards him with determined steps, taking a hold of the collar of his shirt. “Don’t ever think you are a hero Scar, because to me and everyone else you are nothing more than a beast who fails at everything he sets his mind to. Maybe…. Maybe it would be better if you disappeared for a while. It would make everyone’s day way more easy.” John Pride/Arno Dorian/Scar

"Enough of this, answer the damn question! What happened in Camelot?!" he'd snap a little as he heard her begin to try to stir him into anger. He felt a sense of unease as she continued to hit him with more old wounds. Mentioning his mother, his father, and Elsa. Usually he would've struck at someone, but Emma was different. She was someone he'd cared about for a long time. And feeling her hands on his collar and telling him not to think he was a hero, that's where she was wrong.
"That's the thing Ms. Swan, I'm no hero.....I'm just a simple man who did what he felt was right" downplaying his deeds in the Enchanted Forest, which depending on which side you were on, were either heroic for the common man, or terrorism for the corrupt. "You see, I had no chance of saving my mother or my father.....they were executed long before I was trained with my set of skills. Elsa however, I have not yet failed" he'd look to her "I have failed you, yes, you were once such a beautiful and kind person....now you're the very thing that drives those you love away" he'd mention.
"But regardless of if I've failed you or not, I am still bound by my honor....I will find a way to free you, to help you" John was a very strong man, the previous Dark One before her had made him a monster, yes, but he refused to believe that it would define his future. Johnathan Pride was a new beginning, and he was going to get Elsa back. He was going to show her that he was still the man she fell in love with all those years ago.
But right now, there were other matters to attend to. He was playing with darkness...

Emma let go of his collar while a grin spread on her face. His words were pathetic, so were his promises and goals. When was he going to see that she didn’t need any saving, not anymore. She accepted who she was now, she accepted the darkness that freed her from the boundaries she once had and felt. “So many excuses John… you really love to hide yourself behind those, isn’t it? Excuses for running away from your mistakes, your failures….” Her expression became unable to read, calculated and far from caring. “Who told you that I would need saving? That I have to get freed?” she frowned. “Don’t you see Scar… I don’t need all that. This is who I am now. This is who I want to be. The darkness is a part of me now and I’m not planning on letting it go. I am still the Emma you know, only with a tiny different way of thinking. One without boundaries. One without needing to hold back in fear of what it would cause. So Scar…. I am already freed. I don’t need your help for that. But, what I do need your help for…” she paused and started pacing through the man’s living room once more, her eyes wandering throughout the place, readying herself for any unexpected actions. “… you are trying to find some connection with Elsa again, am I right? Then you might be interested in my next offer. Let me help you out with that a little bit, if you can give me something in return. Something that I would love to have. All I would need is one single magical snowflake. Not just a regular one of course, but one that is made by a quite powerful feeling. What do you say Scar, do we have a deal here?” John Pride/Arno Dorian/Scar

A snowflake? Somewhat of an interesting request that Emma had decided to make. He finally looked into her eyes and used her 'superpower' against her. His method was similar but he had his own ways. He surveyed her entire face and not just the eyes. Her body language, her actions. If anything changed and he felt like he could jump on it. He would. He knew nothing of her motives for this. And he wished that there was something more he could do to make her talk. But he had no idea of what had happened. He didn't remember his quest to the Pridelands, nor the skirmish with Arthur. Or even anything involving her, Hook, or Merlin. All he knew was that he was here, and she was there. And he was helpless to help her.
"Why do you need a snowflake Swan?" for the first time ever, he spoke as if he was wary of her. As if she was seducing him. "Powerful feeling? What the hell are you going on about?" John's eyes squinted as he looked at her but it wasn't a glare. It was one of his signature confused looks. One that some people found adorable if you were talking to the right person. But you couldn't blame the man. He had spent his entire life fighting his own demons. And even more so when his mother came back into his life and removed her blessing. "First, what would I have to do? I'm not agreeing to this until I hear some details...." he loved Emma dearly. She had been there for him through his roughest patch.
But now, she was here trying to persuade him to do business with the Darkness once more, and that was something he hated. But when they used Elsa against him. He would hear what they had to say.
It was this Demigods fatal flaw.....

A mysterious grin spread across her face when wary questions came out of his mouth. “Don’t worry, if you think that my need of a snowflake is meant to be used against you and Elsa, you are wrong. Let’s say that this time it’s a personal matter. One that far off needs to concern you.” Her grin didn’t got less by his next question. John needed way more details than he should know. The less he would know, the better. Emma was not going to reveal any of her plans against him. Knowing him it would only be a matter of time before they would reach the rest of her family. Exactly the one thing she was planning to prevent. What she had in mind was something she had to do alone. Only herself could get things back to normal. “The both of us know that Elsa has the habit on producing those needed snowflakes when she experiences a strong emotion… it can be sadness, worry, even happiness could bring her to the point of letting magically snowflakes appear. Now what I need you to do is to make sure that Elsa will experience such a powerful emotion in order for me to get my asked for snowflake.” Emma fold both her hands together behind her back, placing one foot in front of the other while focusing on the man who owned the place. “I think you are very much capable in helping me out in this tiny favor I’m asking from you, right?” she didn’t look away from John, studying the idiotic look on his face. “Or do I need to start thinking that Elsa wouldn’t get any strong emotion from you anymore?” John Pride/Arno Dorian/Scar
