yes even parents most of the time they do that so they can protect their children though. Snow could tell that she was loosing him . Neal was use to being by himself which only proven to the princess that he needed more love in his life. But the only way he was going to get the love and stability of home was by opening himself up to it...he had to love himself enough to let go of the pain.
That was the hardest part for Emma to recognize. The savior had hopefully a little more each day. The trip to Neverland was a good thing it opened her eyes to the possibility that home wasn't that far off either.
Reaching out taking Neal's hand in hers . Snow gave it a gentle squeeze I know its hard but if you don't let go push down those walls how do you expect expect to have a future? a simple question with a lot of truth behind it. More one ran away from everything the more you would never really find a home or a family.

I grew up alone. I grew up without a father. You can make up for that?

NEAL CASSIDY “Yeah, I guess most of the time they do, but, sometimes they, they don't.” Neal said, sighing softly. Neal was used to being alone, he had been for most of his life. He had finally opened himself up to the idea of love and a chance at home with his father and Henry here in Storybrooke. But, opening himself up completely had been the one thing that had brought him the most pain in his life.
The idea of getting past the pain had been something he was able to open himself up to that time on the Jolly Roger with his father after releasing him from that box. Since his papa had come back for him, and, wanted him after all. Maybe he could finally have his home.
Neal looked down at Mary Margaret's hand around his before smiling softly. “I don't know. I guess growing up I never felt like I had one, because of my whole, you know... I'm just not quite sure I can let them down completely yet. But, they're down a lot more lately.” Neal had spent his whole life with his walls up, and, running any chance he got. But, maybe this would be the one place he didn't run from, maybe this would be the one place that would give him a chance at home.

Neal seemed pretty protected and more focused on not allowing the past to fade to be able to heal. Eventually if he didn't Snow could see were this would be a problem. He would miss out on so much that life could offer.
Not being able to trust another person would back fire . slipping her hand away mustering up another tiny smile . that's a start Neal just take a little at time. I'm not saying it will be easy far from it. Things will be frustrating and you'll want to hide but just keep trying that's all I ask alright.
It didn't take Emma for her to knock down her walls. Well most of them when it came to relationship the blonde was more hell bent to keep a huge wall between many who dare to look and try to get to know her. Snow hoped that one day that Emma would be able to feel more relaxed in her role as princess.

Letting the past have a chance to fade was something that Neal had always found hard. It wasn't like he hadn't tried before, but, everytime he had tried to move on with his life parts of his past made it almost impossible.
Trusting people was still hard for him. Especially his father. Neal returned Snow's smile “That was my intention. Slowly getting used to everything again. Well, hiding and running away is what I do best, but, I promise I'll try and stay strong without leading to running away this time.”
Neal's walls had started to become weaker the longer he stayed in this town. But, that didn't mean they were completely gone, far from it. There's some things that will never be gone. But, it was getting to the point where he felt like he could let people in again and maybe even trust some of them. He just hoped that this time he wasn't setting himself up for a lot of heartbreak again.
