HISTORY,
Daralis grew up in a poverty stricken family together with 4 of her brothers. Being the youngest and the only girl of the family came together with a lot of moments where she had to stand up for herself to be able to get what she wanted. You would think that being a girl and the youngest would have their advantages, but in this family things were working differently.
At the age of 10 Daralis lost her mother during ogre attacks at the village. From that moment on she became the “mother” of the family. Laundry, bringing food on the table and making sure that all the men of her family were coming home at a clean place after a long day of work became her life from then on.
Only when she reached the age of 20 and all of her brothers had found a wife and started a family it felt as if she could take her life in her own hands. For the first time she would be able to make decisions in selfish ways, ones that would make her own life a bit more easy than how it was going.
Daralis got word of Queen Quinevere who was looking for capable and decent handmaidens to help her out around the castle and who would obey every order they would get. For Daralis it felt as the perfect opportunity to get a chance on a life that was completely different than the one she already had. She could learn so much more about people, about how to handle certain housework, maybe if she was really lucky she could even learn how to read. Oh how much she hoped to be able to read one day. It would bring her in a less dependable position.
After a few weeks, the results of certain tests to become a handmaiden of the queen had been spread across the realm. Daralis was one of the girls who had the honor on becoming a handmaiden. Several years she’d spent with the Queen. Things that once were dreams became reality. She learned how to read, how to serve in the most honorable way but at the same time she never forgot how it was to stand up for herself and fight for what she wanted. She might be some sort of servant, but she was still Daralis, the girl from the village that got destroyed by ogres. The girl that had to make sure that all of her brothers and father survived.
The palace was a place she never thought to be leaving anymore, at least not until she would get too old to be a handmaiden, but it was a thick cloud of purple smoke that decided differently about her fate. All of a sudden she ended up at a quiet little place called Storybrooke. Or at least, it appeared to be quiet until a lot of things happened. There was someone called the Dark One, the king got locked away in a prison cell for very vague reasons and the word ‘magic’ appeared much more than it did in Camelot.
Once more Daralis got the feeling that all of this happened for a reason. It happened because it wanted to tell her that she had to start looking for something new, something exciting, something that would make her become even stronger in life than she already was. Daralis stopped being the handmaiden she used to be and found another and new job by the unexpected new friendship between her and a woman called Aphrodite.
It didn’t take long before it came clear that this woman was actually THE Aphrodite and that all of the other gods were closer that it seemed.
The question is, would Daralis go back to Camelot when they would have the chance, or would she stay in this oh so quiet town?
