“HEY, UNCLE B. I’M GOING OUT FOR A BIT!” Casey yelled up the stairs as she grabbed the keys to the car that her uncle is allowing her to drive. Opening the door, and flipping the hood of her hoodie up, Casey stepped out into the pouring rain as her uncle answered back in the affirmative. Shutting the front door, Casey walked over to the old Volkswagen and unlocked the door before stepping in.
Casey started the car, before shutting the door and putting her seat-belt on. After that, she checked her mirrors and made sure no one was behind her before pulling out the small driveway and heading on her way.
She wasn't sure where she was going, but she knew that she wanted to get out of the house. It wasn't that she didn't love her uncle, it was just that Casey needed her space, and if she didn't leave the house now, then she would most likely do or say something that would no doubt get her grounded for life. It was bad enough that she was sent to her uncle’s for the summer, with no way to see her friends. Actually, that was the exact reason her parents had sent her way; so she could have some fresh air and be away from negative influences. Not that it would help, but her parents had to try something.
At a stop sign, Casey decided to turn right onto a deserted road. She did not notice the sign that said danger; end of road. Turning up the radio as Owl City’s Fireflies played, she smiled, drumming her fingers on the steering wheel. Casey cursed the car as the windshield wipers got stuck once more, and she slammed the steering wheel in frustration hoping that it would jogged the damned thing to move. What the sixteen year old failed to notice was that she was heading faster down the road, and the next thing she noticed was that she crashed into a tree.
Closing her eyes in fear, she sat in the car, a dazed feeling running throughout her body. Opening one eye, she noticed that she had crashed into a tree just outside of a small town. Quickly stepping out the car, she accessed her body to make sure she had no injuries, but other than a bruised knee, she thought she was fine. Turning her attention to her car, Casey noticed that the front of dented in, and she got onto her knees, and grabbed her head as she muttered.
“Oh no, nononono, Uncle B.’s gonna kill me” Her breathing came out in sharp breathes, and thought about her next course of action. There was no way Casey was going to call her uncle. He would kill her for sure, and then she’d be stuck at the house for the rest of the summer. instead, Casey stood up, and wiped her knees, which were no help, seeing as she was soaked to the bones, and grabbed her bag, before slinging it around her shoulder.
Casey searched the area and found a welcome sign that read ‘Welcome to Story book’ or that’s what she thought it said. Casey shut an eye, trying to decipher what the last word said. She made out the last word, but had problems reading the last word since it was hooked to story. ‘Oh, there’s an “R’ in the word’ Casey thought. So, that would make it Storybrooke. What Kind of whackjob names a town Storybrooke?
Shivers ran down her back, as she got an uneasy feeling about this town. Looking back at her car, Casey let out a stream of curse words. There was no point in standing here. She might as well go and find a mechanic. she crossed the threshold that led into Storybrooke, and looked around the town. No one was outside, and she couldn’t blame them seeing as it was raining, and she noticed that this town was pretty small. She noticed a place called ‘Granny’s Diner’ and decided to head into there. There was a few people here, but Casey looked to the front, and saw a girl, who was probably a few years older than she behind the counter. Taking a deep breath, and allowing a small determined glare on her face, Casey stepped toward the counter.
“Hey lady, do you know where I can find a mechanic? My car broke down just outside of this town’s border” She kept the hood on and dug her hands in her pocket, hoping that she looked old enough and not out of place, though she had a feeling she stepped inside of a town that no outsider has ever seen.
