Katie Howlett
age Immortal | gender Female | FRACTION Goddess |
BIRTHDATE 10/31 | SEXUALITY Complicated | Profession Meddling in the affairs of mortals |
PERSONALITY,
Sassy: Over the centuries, Hecate, or Katherine Howlett, as she is known in the 21st century, has gone from a quiet inner knowing to an in-your-face badass. She considers herself to be the epitome of all things magic, and she prefers for others to stay out of her business. She's not above getting into people (or deities) face about messing around with magic without her knowing about it.
Kind: Despite her outward persona of She-Bitch, Katie does have a soft side. She feels the need to guide and protect vulnerable women and children, steering them clear of harms way. Not always successful, but always well meaning.
Forgiving: While she doesn't enjoy people meddling with her affairs, she is willing to forgive if proper penance is paid. One has to really screw up for her to hold a grudge for long.

HISTORY,
Hecate, or the modern day Katie, is an only child. She began life as a goddess of magic, particularly witchcraft, necromancy and ghosts, as well as the night and moon. Her domain is with Hades in the Underworld.
When Hades, wrapped in his helm of invisibility, raped Persephone, Hecate heard the girl's screams of terror, and, with a torch in each hand, ran to Demeter, the girl's mother, to tell her the dire news. Demeter's daughter had been missing and the goddess of seasons had stopped all weather patterns in her grief. With Hecate's help, however, the duo went to Apollo, who watched over both mortal and immortal with his bright chariot, to ask if he had seen the culprit; this was how they found out it was Hades who had raped and trapped poor Persephone. Hecate swore she would watch over the girl while she was in the Underworld. Whenever Persephone would despair and become homesick for her mother and the light of the sun, Hecate would transform into a large, black bitch, and run along the rivers of the Underworld, acting like a foolish pup who wished to play until her little friend would smile.
During the spring and summer, Hecate was lonely and would go back to her spells and incantations. It was during one of these interludes that she happened upon a woman by the name of Gale. A seductress and whore, Gale practiced a perverse version of sexual magic, selling herself to the highest bidder. The woman disgusted Hecate, and the goddess, offended, turned the woman into a polecat.
Nowadays, Hecate goes by the name Katie Howlett, and is accompanied by a large, black dog almost everywhere she goes; the dog is a female by the name of Hekabe. Once upon a time, Hekabe was human, but after a tragic war that tore her home asunder, she threw herself on Hecate's mercy, and now travels the world with Katie.
