Artemis wondered through the beautiful gardens that grew on Olympus, word had reached her that Hephaestus had been asking for her. Her skin looked pale in the moonlight but she loved to see the stars and on Olympus their beauty and grace was unmatched. No human had seen their true beauty until they had seen it from there and none ever did. She was tired and worn from the hunt she'd come back from, it had proven to be quite the difficult task. Not only could she smell his workshop as she grew closer but she could hear metal clashing and fires burning. The garden's beauty had slowly subsided, nothing truly grew this close to his work shop and it saddened her. She held her palms to the hard ground either side of the path leading towards his work shop and closed her eyes, the wind picked up as several of her sacred plants rose from the ground and bloomed in the moonlight. Cypress trees and laurel flowers brightened up the whole path and a smile slipped onto her lips. "that's better" she said to herself before ascending the steps and opening the large doors that led towards his work shop, she could smell the fire and the steel and various other things she could not name. Her eyes scanned the dark room lit by fire but found his presence amiss. "Hephaestus?" she called "are you here?" she ventured farther into his space and turned to find him entering from another hallway, she smiled brightly "brother word has spread that you have been asking for me, sorry it took so long but I only just returned from a hunt" few of her brothers truly held her love but he was surely one of them. Hephaestus

the gift The pound of his hammer against the adamantine metal molding it against the anvil. The gift was almost perfection a true wonder befitting of Artemis . the goddess of the hunt was one of the other god to be kind to him. Hephaestus knew of ugliness that was one of the very reason why Hera threw from the heavens. They say it isn't the landing kils you but the fall ...well those assholes were wrong. When he landed on to the earth all his bones broke and shattered mending as quickly as the broke. Most had mended rather nicely all but his right leg. That would remain twisted and bent, the scar that split from top lip make it ceft a streak of white scrolled deep cross his cheek leading to the corner of his left blue eye. Only a face a mother could love but not even that for him no he was the broken god . Taking the done gift moving to the babbling brooke by the anvil. The sizzle of burning flesh on his hand as he jammed the bow into the cool spring hardening the gift. Lifting his head up toward he entrance ducking his once the voice of Artemis echoed through the cave turned in workshop.. You keep your dirty dark secrets in the vast emptiness of the underground. I'm here sister , come collect your present limbering over to the irony table at the end of the stair case. Laying bow next to the arrows he crafted earlier. Adamantine was the only metal he ever used for the gods it was powerful and pure . strength in the metal ment nothing would break it no mortal weapon and armor could stand against it .

"A present" she repeated softly "and to what do I owe this kindness?" she smiled walking closer towards him at the end of the staircase and an even brighter smile grew upon her lips looking at the perfectly crafted bow and arrows. Her fingertips caressed the cool adamantine before she gripped it within her palm, slipped an arrow inside and let it fly before embedding within a wooden post near the door she entered. Perfect aim, perfect grip and perfect balance, what a wonderful gift.
"It's perfect" she couldn't remember the last time she'd been so happy about a gift and she found herself setting it down as she had found it and embracing her brother in a hug "It truly is a divine gift, thank you Hephaestus" she composed herself and once again gazed at the expert craftsmanship of the weapon, it would aid her so well in her gifts.
Artemis was still young, barely a woman and still had much to learn. Father allowed her many hunts to refine her talents and gifted her once with a beautiful bow but had broken it in rage one day thereafter, but even then she did not feel as pleasant and happy as she did at that moment. This would be hers to have forever.
"How are you brother?" she asked leaning back against the table "we haven't had a chance to talk in so very long" another smile grew upon her lips "I made the courtyard a bit more pleasant" with the soft wave of her hand she conjured the bow and arrows back to her chambers where the rest of her hunting gear rested "come, you must see" she gripped his wrist and lead him towards the door to show him the plants she'd grown, he had gifted her so it seemed only fair she did something nice for him in return.

the hug took Hephaestus by surprise, your kindness is why I made this for you patting her back before she back out of his grip. Head hung low moving his bad side in to he shadows once more. Smiling at her words of gratitude. Artemis wwas one of the few gods from he Parthenon that was a genuine good soul.
a perfect gift for a perfect goddess. blushing by all he praise Artie it was nothing please don't have to say thank you . I don't make things for thanks I make them for those who I find worthy. rubbing his hand over his top of his right shoulder . the smell of smoke and molten lava that was comforting to Hephaestus this was home at least to him . the fact that Artie had fixed the out side of the cave made the blacksmith give her face of annoyance.
He wasn't a fan of flowers and other beautiful plant life. Those things never lived long around him, nothing grew in the heat . the plant life chokes on the smoke it drown out the life and possibility. I don't know if that's is a good idea. Last time I came out Hera threw a fit she is still upset over the lesson I taught her with the throne. not able to hide the joyful guff in his tone.

"You should see me when I hunt, you won't think I'm kind anymore" she joked with a soft chuckle, she knew his past bothered him as did his physical appearance but she saw no fault in her brother. He was a good man with good values and even better morals. How Hera could live with herself after the injustice she caused to him she could never comprehend, luckily she never had to call the woman mother.
Hephaestus was known to gift those he cared about with divine weapons and art and still Hera treated him like a blacksmith rather than her child. She smiled brightly at him as his face turned to annoyance and slapped his shoulder playfully "you don't have to look like you're dying" she mocked "I thought it could use a little color. You didn't think you could call me here, a goddess with an affinity for nature without a flower or two popping up" she took his wrist and led him to the entrance with a gentle smile.
"when will Hera ever be peaceful and loving" she asked sarcastically "if the plants die brother then I fix them but for now I really think a little bit of change can do you good. Besides I think it looks good" her hand raised to gesture to the bright green shades outside as she looked towards him. She wished he would come out more but knew it to be impossible. Perhaps one day.

WORDS: 000 | TAG: Artemis | NOTES: xyz
Hephaestus loved his sister though she was enthusiastic for his liking . the god wasn't a glass half full type he was just there really. So when she mention the plant life growing and wanting to add a pop of color to his surroundings. It took everything for him not say but black has all the colors in it . so the workshop had color. Smirking at this notion knowing full and well it would probably spark some theological debate on the subject matter Hephaestus decided to bit his tongue and follow Artemis out into blinding light of the sun.
It was a shorter walk then he remembered , what seems like eternity when walking back only took matter of seconds to the entrance. Lifting up a hand to block out the light allowing his eyes to adjust , standing at the mouth of the cave . Hephaestus gazed at the beautiful creations of life Artemis had brought forth to his lowly corner. All the colors of the rainbow stood before them, smiling briefly . Limping out amongst the greenery of the garden .
Artie this is truly a wonder, lumbering toward the base of tree , so he may sit in the cool shade. keep this up and you'll have Demeter jealous in no time dear sister.
Family is power Always and forever

She chuckled following him to the gentle shade of a large tree smiling knowing he hadn't disagreed with her work yet. Perhaps it would be a good thing for the plants to brighten up the place. She felt happiness seeing her brother breathe in the fresh air and bathe in the warmth of the sun, he was one of the few siblings she'd choose to be with, who she truly got along with other than Dionysus and Aphrodite.
"It'll be a nice change of pace for us" she chuckled "Demeter already voiced her dislike towards me" but the joke like smile that had found it's way to her lips vanished shortly after. Perhaps she could voice her troubles to Hephaestus, she knew he would not talk out of turn.
"Brother, when last have you spoken to father?" she wanted to know if someone else saw the change in their father, the replacement of love and care with anger and vengeance. She wanted someone to confirm that she was not going crazy so she met his gaze with a worried frown.
