Things in town had gone from calm and order to utter chaos, not only did people worry themselves sick once their memories returned in a rush of overwhelming emotions but somehow Snow and Emma had ended up in the enchanted forest. David was as expected busy helping and supporting the people of Storybrooke even though his own mind clouded with worry for his wife and daughter so Annabelle did something she never thought she would and took Henry in for a while to calm him until the duo returned. He had turned out far braver than a young boy should be but at night she could see the tears sting his eyes and the worry coat his tone but everything had turned out well even though her comforting words to Henry was an act covering her own fears. Traveling between worlds was a difficult task and when things on the other side had been ungoverned and unknown ever since the dreadful curse it only made matters more dangerous so she'd put all her effort and energy into helping Henry reunite with his mother. She knew Henry quite well from before the curse, she'd met him countless times wandering the edge of the woods that surrounded the town mumbling to himself about Regina being the evil queen and no one believed him. She'd spent time listening to his stories about the supposed fairytale creatures that lived all around them and couldn't find reason to disagree with the boy without crushing his dreams. He had tried countless times to figure out exactly who she was and how she fit into everything but he was never truly right. Later it had become a tradition to share his stories with her and little did she know he was serious when he talked about setting off to find his real mother. Who ever knew she would save them all? And she had come through yet again, gone to immeasurable lengths to get back to her son. Annabelle lazily sat on the park bench admiring the quiet tranquility that it offered her once Henry had finally reunited with his mother, she would surely miss his company. She smiled at the approaching hero who had done nothing but astonish her ever since she set foot in the small town. Emma slowly walked over to the bench and Annabelle couldn't help but wander how on earth Henry left her side since she had returned. Emma Swan

Together with Mary Margaret, Emma managed to get back in Storybrooke after a challenging time in the Enchanted Forest. For quite many moments both her and Mary Margaret had to give each other some hope again that they would find a way back to Henry and David, to Storybrooke, and finally after quite a while they managed to do so. They’d spent a lot of time with Henry and David once they were back in town, making up for the lost moments. Only now, Emma was alone for the first time since they got back. David and Henry had told her how much Annabelle had been helping out while they were gone and how much they’d appreciated it. Emma felt like using her time alone to look up the girl herself to thank her for what she did. It might have been just a little gesture from the girl, but to her and her family it meant great of a deal. A woolen hat covered a huge amount of her long blond hair and kept her ears warm while she walked through the park and the cold air of the starting autumn embraced the skin of her cheeks and made them blush. Emma returned the smile that Annabelle gave her while she approached the bench she was settled onto. “Hi.” The blonde halted near the girl. “You must be Anabelle right?” Emma sat down next to the girl without getting an invitation to do so, locking her eyes with hers. “I heard what you have done for Henry and David while me and Mary Margaret were gone. I want to thank you for that. It meant a lot to them and erm… thank you for helping them out.” Annabelle Hope Evans

Annabelle welcomed the approaching season change, as if the cold could lessen the burning worries within her but time enough for that, at the moment she had company she wasn't quite expecting. She nodded her head as the hero spoke, confirming that she was indeed who Emma though her to be and she couldn't help but think of the small traits Henry had gotten from his mother.
"Yeah" She watched Emma sit down on the cold wood of the bench before finding herself leaning into the backrest with her palms warming one on top of her knee "It's a pleasure" she told her simply "besides Henry was a blast to have, he couldn't stop asking about the enchanted forest though" she remembered answering his questions as best she could with the fractions of memories that had returned "about home" a soft smile grew on her lips remembering the realm she had lived and grew in, it would be a total lie saying she didn't miss it at all. Her eyes fell softly to her boots before lifting to face the savior again.
"He's a brave boy you know" she complimented "you've given him a hell of an example to live up to" a chuckle slipped past her lips as she watched the hero, feeling comfortable enough around the woman to speak her mind.
"What was it like anyway, seeing the place you were born and all that?" she was genuinely curious what had happened to her home fearing she would never lay eyes upon the age old world again.

The compliments that Annabelle was speaking toward her made Emma feel some what on edge. It wasn't that meant in harmful awkward manner but the blonde wasn't use to the kind words of strangers most an air of indifference. But Storybrooke was anything but normal she guessed. I don't know I think it's the other way around. Henry has inspired me time an time again to stay helping those here in town searching for happy ending.
Leaning forward on to her thighs the wood of the bench pressed heavily in the back side of her legs. i t felt surreal here was a land no world that you've read about imagine as a child staring mindlessly at Disney movie and thinking you have it figured out. When in truth you have nothing figured out , I haven't felt so out of place since I was child. The land is almost apocalyptic.. mouth went dry licking her lips rankingher hands through her cornsilk colored hair.
the land has been ravaged leaving only a small part safe from ogres . I saw my nursery...I ... it was still a raw nerve of emotion one that should be suppressed pushed back not thought about at least for now. Did help her understand her parents choices yes did it make any better ?no the pain of feeling not wanted and alone still lingered there lurking in he shadows waiting to peak up at any moment.

"It's good you're here though, whatever reason kept you here. Snow couldn't lose you, not again" Annabelle's memories flashed back to a time when she had just met the princess, in Regina's dungeon but things turned out great and a friendship bloomed. Although they didn't speak as much as ever since the curse was cast she couldn't help but know that losing Emma would've broken Snow.
Annabelle could see the worry cloud over Emma, obviously things took a turn for the worst back home and discovering there was so much more to life than one world was a shock to anyone, thankfully the savior was still as sane as ever. She hadn't ever faced an Ogre but she'd seen them before and the sight itself was frightening, how horrible mustn't it have been to see them all over home. There was no going home for them, not anymore.
"It hurt" Annabelle finished for her "I understand, you don't have to talk about it" she didn't mean to make it sound as depressing as it did but she had an idea of what it felt like. Being an orphan created a kind of universal feeling and seeing her nursery had to have hurt in ways no one could truly understand.
"But if you do need to talk" she continued softly slipping her fingers within one another and flashed a genuine smile towards Emma "I'm a good listener, at least that's what Henry told me. And I know what it feels like losing your parents and never really having them growing up so I'm here if you need anything" She knew then she'd do anything to help the savior, if not for Henry she'd learned to love then for Snow who she adored and admired. For friends and loved ones Annabelle would go to the ends of the earth, if not further.
"Did anyone survive the curse on that side?" she asked softly knowing Storybrooke lacked a few faces here and there, perhaps the curse did not reach the entire realm. Everything felt so calm and peaceful, even when she hardly knew Emma and vice versa but it felt comfortable. Even the short pauses of silence.

Emma frowned staring down at her brown lace up boots. The very topic was a touchy one, yeah was she at better starting point with her parents yep . did it mean Emma was ready to call them mom and dad ? Not yet arms length but staying around . what happen to your parents ? deflection and not answering keeping walls up. That was always the easier of many options and Emma had become a pro at that.
Hands snaked into the pockets of her red leather jacket. I'm sorry if this comes out rude but what story are you from ?I mean most of these people are no pun intended a open book but you I can't get a read on . the savior would probably trust more if she knew who this Annabelle was.
Leaning back against the bench there was one group I met but Cora killed them along with her errand boy Hook. She ripped their hearts out like nothing sickening gently pulling her left hand out of a pocket rubbing over her heart. The memory of Cora trying to take her own heart and being unsuccessful. Licking lips blinking coming back to her senses that doesn't mean there isn't more groups out there in the Enchanted forest just means we didn't run into them . why anyone I you tell of ?

There was no need to keep her past a secret from the savior, after all there was no harm to be done unto her by Emma. She rubbed her cold hands together with a solemn expression "I don't remember them actually. The only thing I remember about my mother was how beautiful she was and I have this gut feeling she's gone but I don't remember. And I have no idea who my father was or if he's still alive, I doubt it" it felt kind of good letting it out, not that it made her feel any less lonely.
"Good pun anyway" she complimented with a chuckle "I don't think I really have a story really, nothing noteworthy anyway. I grew up by myself from a young age and without a good job or family I had no choice but to do less than honest work" as if to show the savior the thief she was she held up Emma's phone with a smug smile "so I taught myself how to get things without paying for them. I remember looking for a compass to find out who my parents were, I found it but after that everything seems a blur up until the point I was sitting right here remembering who I really was, you know, after you broke the curse and saved the lot of us" she held the phone out to Emma apologetically thinking of the day her memories woke in broken pieces, the day she remembered choking on the dangerous curse and ended up a fragment of who she truly was as a bartender in Storybrooke "but I've been honest here, promise" she crossed a small x with her nail over her heart.
"Figures Hook would end up with Cora" of course being a thief left you knowing far too many things you were not supposed to and there were countless rumors about a woman named Cora who was in fact Regina's mother "that's what she does, she's got no way to come here right?" if a woman like Cora made it to Storybrooke none of them would be safe. Especially Henry, no doubt Emma realized that.
"No one in particular, just curiosity" she picked up a small pebble by her feet and watched it glide over the water as she retracted her hand "guess I'm just a little home sick" she smiled looking towards the Savior "bet you know the felling" no doubt Emma felt more at home there, in a land where magic didn't truly belong. With Henry of course.

It took a little for Emma to realize that the phone Annabelle was holding, was actually her own. Quickly the blonde reached out one of her hands towards the pocket of her jeans where her phone used to be. There was nothing left other than an empty pocket. Emma was amazed on how much Annabelle her thieving skills were. She never thought that this innocent looking girl would be able to collect her phone without noticing anything. “You… that’s my phone” Emma pointed towards the object in a nonchalant way while her voice was amazed and perplex. “… I wouldn’t have noticed it at all. That’s… incredible.” A smile formed on Emma’s features when Annabelle gave her phone back. “You know, I might not be that handy when it comes to stealing out of someone’s pockets, but there are a few tricks of the street that I learned myself. It were those tricks of the street which made me get to know Henry’s father.” her smile became smaller and lingered on her lips. “Maybe after a while you will get your memories back, or at least the parts that you would like to have back. I already amaze myself by what I’m going to say but, maybe you just have to believe that they will come back one day.” Great… now I’m starting to sound like Henry and Mary Margaret… A frown formed on Emma’s forehead when she mentioned that it would be quite logical for Hook to be ending up with Cora. “Do you know him? Hook I mean? Cause it’s pretty clear that you do know Cora…” Emma crossed her arms in front of her chest while watching the girl throwing small pebbles over the surface of the water, causing the fluid to ripple by each time it hit the surface. “Cora tried to get here, unfortunately for her we were first.” A sigh followed. Emma couldn’t stop thinking about the horrible feeling of having her hand around her heart, trying to pull it out and claiming it to herself and on how strange it felt to have a wave of magic escaping from within you, keeping Cora from getting what she wanted. “Oh I know the feeling. A part of me truly wants to get out of this town, run away, never look back from the craziness that I’ve seen and witnessed these last couple of weeks. But then there is the other part of me saying that I won’t find another place like this in my life again. Maybe now, now that I got to know who my real parents are, it will become easier to decide what I truly want.” She shrugged, placing both of her hands inside the pocket of her red leather jacket once more. There are better things ahead Annabelle smiled at the thought of Snow's daughter partaking in criminal activities, like mother like daughter it seems. Emma seemed the type though ever since she'd been in Storybrooke for Henry the hero inside her had taken over, on several occasions. She smiled at the optimism wishing desperately to mend her broken memories but time would heal and time would tell.
"You sounded just like Henry there" she pointed towards Emma with a gentle laugh though once her knowledge of the one handed pirate became an obvious question she took a deep breath "Hook yeah. Back home I needed to get something on Neverland and he was generous enough to help me, for a price" she added, the memory of their trickery on Pan sprung to life "and Cora, let's just say Wonderland was almost the end of me" but it wasn't, and the thin scar on her shoulder was proof of her survival after the Queen of hearts demanded her head on a platter.
She listened closely as Emma spoke knowing the conflicting needs of running and staying that the savior was faced with "I completely understand that" she took a slight pause before speaking once more "can I add my opinion?" she looked to confirmation from Emma before another word slipped past her lips "But here's the thing, you aren't a part of this world and even if you've been here since a baby and you're always going to wonder what if. Because you're the savior and you're Charming and Snow's daughter, that itself calls for a good few heroic acts and even if it doesn't feel like the normal family you're still their daughter. You deserve to be all you can be, and that includes being the savior" she didn't meet Emma's gaze afraid she'd poked too deep in personal business and instead picked up a stick and drew shapes in the wet dirt next to her boot. | |
