An unintentional dive into the cold waves that surrounded Neverland had pushed Annabelle to shore out of breath and desperate for warmth. There was no turning back, so she pushed her tired legs through thick bushes that danced in the pale moon light and underneath large canopies of trees. Her calm demeanor had shifted to alert and ready in seconds when audible footsteps crushed rapidly towards her. Have they found her? Was it wise to stay and fight? Or should she rather wait for the opportune moment? So she did the only thing she could think of for the time being, she ran. She'd heard tales of the deadly poison that coated their weapons and she had no intention of facing them tired and cold. Her small figure had counted for a quick sprint, her hands skillfully hoisted her over large tree roots and rocks while her feet easily evaded danger and her eyes scanned the landscape for anymore signs of danger. Eventually fatigue had caught up to her and her foot got snagged on a vine, she felt her body tumble forward and roll horribly fast over rocks and dirt until she came to a sudden and painful stop against a large boulder. Or was it just that, a boulder? As her eyes adjusted to the dark and that which lay before her she noticed the opening, she noticed refuge. It was far more than just a big bulky rock in the middle of nowhere, it was a cave. She could only hope danger was not waiting for her within as she pushed herself through the gaping hole and leaned back against cold stone to catch her breath well hidden by the shadows within the cave. But she was not alone. Neal Cassidy

The island was relatively quiet that night, as Baelfire sat in his cave, just sketching another drawing that had come to his head. He didn't recognise anything about the image, but, it was in his head, so he just drew it.
Bae suddenly felt the cold catching up with him again, and, he turned around noticing the fire had blown out. He walked over to the corner where he kept his supplies, including, the spare firewood. Kneeling down and picking some up in his hand, Bae moved over to the fire, and, threw the new wood on there, feeling the cave rage with warmth and light at the same time.
Sitting beside the fire, Bae just ran his hands over the flames warming them up. He had gotten used to the cold, since, even before this island he'd experienced it a lot. Ever since being abandoned, Bae had been in mostly cold alleys or old abandoned buildings. He had the short time with the Darlings where he'd experienced both warmth and love, but, that was short lived. Almost too good to be true, so to speak.
Being on this island, Bae felt that he was isolated enough from Pan and his lost boys, because so far they hadn't found where it was yet. So, when he heard a noise from the edge of the cave, it made Bae's head spark up. No-one ever visited him here in his cave, and, yet someone had found him here.
Quietly, sneaking around the fire to where his spear and bow and arrow lay, Bae picked up the bow and arrow before standing up and taking his aim, glancing to the direction where the noise came from. “Whoever you are. Reveal yourself or I'll fire. And I'm a pretty good shot with this thing.” Bae shouted, as he waited for an answer.

Annabelle's breath got caught in a most uncomfortable lump in her throat, the realisation that she was not alone had hit her like a thousand hurricanes. The voice was soft, reluctant and young. For the first time she truly saw the soft glow of a fire and felt it's warmth. But the fire was still a bit far and that itself made looking at the boy rather difficult.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" she told him honestly her eyes slowly adjusting to the dark around her "if you're a lost boy I'll have no problem defending myself, to the death" she took slow measured steps to throw off his aim if he did desire to shoot her "but if you're not I truly am no threat" she bargained taking a wild risk and stepping into the illuminating glow the flames offered. She met the eyes of a young boy no closer to killing her than she was him. He looked nothing as wild or dangerous as a lost boy.
"Who might you be?" She asked with a soft smile and a firm hand against the cave wall.

As Bae continued to stare towards the entrance of his cave, he kept his bow and arrow raised. He was silently holding his breath, waiting for some kind of noise to be made. If it was Pan or one of his lost boys, or if it was someone completely different. Bae didn't know who or what it was, but, he would be ready if they were going to attack him.
“Why wouldn't I?” Bae asked. With the voice, he could sense it wasn't Pan or one of his lost boys. The voice belonged to a girl, but, one who wasn't Tink. Bae let out a soft scoff, as she implied that he could ever be one of Pan's lost boys, but, he was sure she didn't hear it. “I'm not one of Pan's lost boys. If I was, do you really think I'd be living in this cave away from all of them?” Bae said, not quite lowering the bow and arrow just yet. Bae smiled softly, as he watched the young girl move closer towards the fire.
“I might be Baelfire.” Bae said, as he gently lowered the arrow, but, keeping it close to him just in case. “What about you? Who might you be?”

She felt her defenses soften looking at the young boy, he was most definitely not a lost boy or anything close to it. Instead of savage brutality mere curiosity flashed in his doe eyes. She knew that she could most definitely defend herself against the boy but she had no intentions to do so.
"Because I'm not your enemy" she replied simply leaning back against the cold rock wall that enclosed the cave with a soft smile "Pan's a tricky little devil, you could be some kind of trick" but she knew he was telling the truth and the only true connection to the evil boy could very well be the island and nothing more.
"My name's Annabelle" she took a small moment to consider her next words but spoke them anyway "or Hope, whatever you prefer" she felt that the boy was definitely no threat and a lost soul in a terrible place "You mind?" she gestured towards the burning fire hoping to find warmth by it's embrace but sat down before he even had a chance to give her a solid answer.
"Maybe you could help me?" she continued leaning back and watching him with an amused smile behind the dancing fire, hoping that perhaps if he was not an enemy he could be an ally and perhaps a good one at that.

His defenses were slowly starting to lower as he stood there with this young girl. She obviously wasn't a lost boy of Pan's, but, he still didn't know if she was dangerous just yet. Bae was curious about her in a way, but, he also knew that Pan's magic could cause all kinds of illusions. However, there was something in Bae's gut that told him he could trust this young woman. Whoever she was.
"How can I be sure of that?" Bae asked, raising his eyebrows. His trust issues were kind of low, given his experience in the past, so he would need some proof. "And so could you." Bae was ready to defend himself if he had to, thanks to Captain Hook he knew alot about how to wield a sword to get out of trouble, and, take down enemies.
"Nice to meet you Annabelle." Bae said, the lost gaze still obvious in his eyes. He was just a lost soul on this island, and, he was desperate to find a friend of some kind. Maybe, this young girl could be, even if just for a little while. "What?" Bae asked, before looking around, and, realising what she was referring to. "Oh, of course." Bae noticed that she hadn't waited for an answer anyway, which caused him to smile softly.
"Help you with what?" Bae asked, looking at the young girl curiously. No-one ever really went to him for help on this island, so, he wasn't sure what he could do for this young girl Annabelle. Yes, he was good with a sword and bow and arrow, but, he wasn't sure what good that would do right now.

"You're a clever one aren't you" she complimented "I'm not a trick, promise" she crossed a small x over her heart with a gentle smile. "It's nice to meet you too Baelfire. I like the name" she rested her palms behind her and leaned back comfortably stretching her aching legs out in front of her. She saw his mind retract in deep thought over the proposal, how long had the poor boy been lost on this island. She felt sorry for him but she wondered why he was all alone.
"I only need a guide" she told him "no need to worry I just don't know my way around the island and I need to get back to the coast. I need to board the jolly Roger" she watched him closely, the smile on her lips never wavering. Perhaps one day she'd be granted the opportunity to be a mother but she knew she couldn't, she was nothing but a thief and had too many enemies to even dream of it.
"But for tonight, if it does not bother you I need a place to rest. I don't exactly have elsewhere to go" she hinted "but all favors you do for me I shall repay, if ever you need anything be it now or in future then you ask me. I have a feeling this island is not the last place we meet one another Baelfire" and it was the truth, a gnawing feeling in her gut told her that she would indeed meet this boy again. Perhaps not soon but eventually.

“Yeah, I am. But, I have to be on this island." Bae said, before continuing to look at her "Ok, I guess I believe you.” Bae said, smiling softly at his new friend. “Thanks, I had nothing to do with it, but, thanks.” Bae rested the bow and arrow by his side, and, just glanced at Annabelle. He took a seat on the ground just underneath him, as he looked around his cave. Bae couldn't help, but, wonder why this young girl was here. Aside from the fairies and Tiger Lily, there weren't really 'girls' on this island.
“You want me to be your guide?” Bae asked, raising his eyebrows in surprise. At the mention of the Jolly Roger, Bae felt his hands turning into fists by his sides as he remembered his time there. “Ok, I'll show you around, and, help you find the Jolly Roger. You looking for it for any particular reason?” Bae wasn't going to go anywhere near that ship right now. It was the home to a captain that had betrayed and used him. If he ever became a father, he would be better then both him and his own father. But, that possibility was a long way off. He was just a boy, and, had no real opportunity for that right now.
“It's ok I know that feeling of nowhere else to go. You can stay here for tonight.” Bae said. “You don't have to do me anything in return, I don't do it for that reason. But, I might keep that in mind if I ever need it though. Something tells me that might be true.” Bae didn't know if it was, but, he had to hold onto that kind of thinking.

She shrugged her shoulders not seeing harm in telling some of the truth to the boy, yet she also had to be careful not to ruin her own future endeavor. Her palms were open and facing the warm fire trying to heat up, she didn't think Neverland got as cold as it proved to be. She turned to face him crossing her arms over her knees.
"I'll answer your question if you answer mine?" she smiled gently looking towards him curious why he wasn't with Pan "There's something I want and it's on the Jolly Roger, something I've been looking for for a very long time" it wasn't all in detail but she knew it was the truth, but mentioning the compass aloud where Pan could be overhearing was a risk she was not willing to take.
"Why aren't you with Pan?" her eyes soft and curious, a boy lost is a boy Pan wants and yet there she sat facing one boy who did not put his trust in the little devil. She knew of someone who lost a younger brother to the shadow, it was a terrible ordeal and the poor boy was lost to this island forever. Yet she had the opportunity to take him home she couldn't risk going after a boy who's spent years with Pan, he was probably already lost to his family even if he were to go back.
"Thank you Baelfire" she thanked him, finding shelter on this damned island proved to be less a difficult task than she ever envisioned "you're very kind" she complimented resting her back against the cave wall letting her tired body relax knowing she'd need all her strength in the morning. Hopefully this adventure didn't get her killed just yet.
