Sariel didn't have the easiest life growing up, that is to be expected when you're the son of the wizard and the good witch of the South. In those days Oz didn't have a Wicked Witch problem to deal with. Sariel grew up in the Eastern part of Oz away from the Emerald City and away from his father. He could never understand why his father wanted him to stay away but it didn't really matter to him or at least that is what he told himself. Growing up in Munchkin Country made Sariel an outcast, he was different in every way. The Munchkin's wanted nothing but peace and never thought about anything more than their peaceful life. Sariel on the other hand wanted power and control, he felt that his father was too kind to the many lands of Oz. Because he was shunned growing up he began to concentrate on learning to control his power. It soon became clear to him that with his power growing so was the fear in people. It was at the point that the Good Witch of the South appeared to him to try and help him with controlling his power and using it for good. Sariel was now growing under the careful eye of his mother but it still didn't change his feelings about what he wanted to use his powers for. It was at this time that news got back to Emerald City about Sariel and his power. The advisors to the wizard felt now would be the perfect time to strike since Sariel still hadn't mastered his powers yet. The Wizard tried to hold off doing something but the pressure became to great and he to do something. While he couldn't bring himself to kill his son he could banish him from the lands. Soon after Sariel was caught by the Royal Army of Oz and was quickly teleported to the Deadly Desert.
The Deadly Desert was a natural barrier that protected Oz from the outside invaders. Sariel couldn't believe his father had sent him here out of all the places the great and power wizard could send him it had to be here. All Sariel could think about was the hate he had for his father, it was at that moment that something snapped inside him. All the power that he had held in for so long finally came out, a large green beam surrounded Sariel and shot up into the sky. Later on Sariel would come to find out that his display of power could be seen through out all of Oz. There was nothing Sariel could do from the Deadly Desert so he began to make his way back to Oz. While walking through the desert he felt as if he was being guided toward something. As he kept walking he finally came to cave. In the cave he found something that had been lost to myth, the helmet of the demon lord. Sariel could feel the power coming from horned helmet, yet it wasn't dark energy it was something completely different. As he began to move toward it he felt another force trying to pull him away from it, he could even hear a voice telling him not to touch the helmet. He stepped forward and looked down at the horned helmet that sat in front of him, he slowly brought his hands to it. But before he could touch it, the Good Witch of the South appeared in the cave. She begged him not to give and go down the path of destruction but sadly it was to late for Sariel to turn back. Sariel picked up the helmet and slowly put it on knowing that from this day on the boy he had been was gone forever.
He's laboring under the delusion that he'll create some kind of world peace by uniting the human race in reverence of one king. And it's an identity search. He's desperate. He needs to belong. He's so lacking in self esteem and he needs to fill the void with adulation.
